In bold was not an option yesterday to begin my weekend riding.

Friday -- I rode to celebrate a friend who 7 years ago was doing what he loved and it did indeed cost him his life. Peter M. Cornell | ghost bikes
.......For my friend who was a wall of a rider, my 101 miler, begun at 12:29AM during a frog choking thunderstorm on my 2002, $100.00, 7 speed Magna with front basket purchased at Target.

Saturday -- The sun is starting to rise, breakfast has been eaten and now it's time to prep the bike. No rain on the horizon so the Giant will be tasked to hopefully allow me to hang on for at least a few miles. Solo riding is fun but faster riding with the LBS gang gets the heart pumping a whole lot faster. The new day's ride awaits, report to follow.

Only able to "hang on" for 6 miles. Just too tired from yesterday, so after they dropped me I continued on and finished with 54 miles today.

Well, 3 day weekend for me. Trying for 50 miles each day although right now it's raining so Saturday my be an issue.

Friday - 50 miles on the 20 year old Trek Y-Foil. Finally got this one out on a calm, and cool day. seems like it's always windy when I've had it out since getting it built up. I got a chance to really open it up several times and posted some really good speeds. Only one PR but several 2nd faster on other segments. Beast ran up to almost 31 mph without having to stand to accelerate. When I hit 29 mph it felt almost like I was drafting someone as the effort to maintain speed eased considerably. So cool and fun.

On a side note, I was able to relocate the one bottle cage and add on a different bag that holds two water bottles. Now I can carry three 21 ounce Camelak bottles with no problems.

57.0 mile big group ride
Sat 8 am start time, 72 deg at start, 85 at finish
19.5 mph avg, fairly easy in the back where I was

85k today. Wanted to get 100k in, but was turned back due to the rain that was coming my way. Probably a good thing, as when I made it home my legs were done! I'm blaming hill interval training from Thursday for the dead legs.

Saturday - Had to wait for the rain to stop. Didn't want to ride C.F. wheels on wet roads so grabbed the Davidson again. Was planning on 50 but stayed out for 70 miles instead. Finished in right over 4 hours. I'll take that considering I'm doing these miles on just water and salt. Wild turkeys were out with the young today and seeing them was a nice break. It was real humid for here today and I did wind up getting caught in a short rain shower. Still nice to see that the legs were OK for the first 40 miles or so after the fairly hard 50 yesterday. Recovery was ok, it was just the lack of carbs that got me in the ride. Tomorrow will hopefully yield another 50 miles.

Saturday: It's my second to last weekend before moving halfway across the US for a year, and talked a few of the gals into an adventure ride! It ended up being a bit more of an adventure than expected, navigating flood damage, bumpy roads, and plenty of gravel patches. One road on the route was 'closed'...we went to find out why!

A few riders were getting low on water with all the adventure, so we stopped in a completely empty bar. Yep...six women in full kit walk into a bar, in rural Wisconsin, at noon (and two actually get beers). I think the bartender was confused.

Great ride! 69 miles, 3,038'.

Here's why the road was closed: part of it collapsed, so a retaining wall is being built.

I did the same ride as last Sunday, pictures to prove it  I took the truck "29er" that's been hanging over my computer desk almost 2 years, the pain/weakness in my knee was less and had slight pain in the other knee on the side but overall less pain than last weekend. Think I'll hit the fire trails next Sunday

Yesterday I did a 70 mile round trip ride from Ocean City, NJ to the southern-most tip of NJ, the Cape May lighthouse. Rode my 1984 Trek 660. Got start a little after 5:30am once there was enough light to ride and got home around 9:30. 18.4 mph average. Last couple of miles were slow as I only had a small bite to eat at the lighthouse and my body clearly needed more than that.

Today was 23 miles around Ocean City including the 9th Street bridge and a stop at Wards Pastry for donuts.

Thursday: 35 mile solo training ride. Making some progress.
Friday: 40 miles including casual group ride.
Saturday: Umm... snoozed?
Sunday: 44 miles, including improvised group of stragglers dropped from faster group rides. Beautiful day, had fun.

Sunday - Well in honor of the final day of the TDF I took out my yellow, french made Argal. Somewhere in the ride I decided to go for 80 miles instead of 50 so I could have 200 miles over my 3 day weekend. Maybe not a good decision as this is a stiff ride and the saddle is not good once my pace slows down and I start "sitting heavier" on the saddle instead of spinning. But I got the 80 miles done with a few stops to take some pictures.

102k today with the local club. Gotta love riding in a pace line. Sure as heck helps in those windy conditions.

Ogsarg 07-29-19 10:27 AM

Just a quick 40 mile (1600ft of climbing) ride Sunday morning before meeting with family for lunch. Did average 15.6MPH, which is good for me on that specific route.

I did my evening Davis Is. ride for 27 miles last Monday. Got caught in some rain. Also, a dick guy on the way home did the fake jump in your way as I was coming towards him. I'm not surprised when teenagers do this, but this guy was my age. Hilarious. :notamused:

Saturday the wind shifted so I rode out to Upper Tampa Bay trail for 41 miles. Sunday I went to Flatwoods trail. It was very hot and part of the trail was flooded out due to high amounts of rain. Total miles was 45.

My son and I went up to Tahoe to escape the heat and do a little dirt riding. It was awesome.
