My 1990 (I think) Trek 8000. Deore XT thumb shifters. Ritchey brake levers. Have the dual purpose tires on it now so I can ride on streets/paths with my boys.

1993 Giant Cadex ALM-1. Not as nicely restored as some of these old bikes, but looking at the newer bikes around, this one is definitely an oldie now.

Thanks!!!!! I love her. The only flaw is a big chip in the paint on the top tube where the bar ends hit once. Trek does not sell touch up paint and the lunar purple they used that year kind of color shifts. Sometimes the bike almost looks blue/black other times it is bright purple.

The saddle is not stock, nor are the Onza bar ends. I had Plano Cycling and Fitness install Deore LX thumb shifters instead of trigger shifters when I bought it, and to do that they hand to switch the brake levers, but I love the Ritchey Logic levers on it. Cut the bars down a few inches as I used to ride it to the marina and the wide bars were pretty sketchy riding down the walkway from the shore to the dock!

If I had to keep one bike, this is probably the one I would keep. Hope I never have to make that decision.

I've been enjoying this thread for a long time, and finally got around to figuring out how to post pics, so here goes:

My '89 Bridgestone MB-3. Won on Ebay for a little over $200.00. The previous owner probably never had it on dirt, as it was equipped with a high-rise stem and an oversized saddle. I Found the right stem at First Flight Bikes. Even the Ritchey tires are original and still in good shape. I love this bike! (P.S. pardon the trailer hitch on the seatposts of these first two bikes)

My '94 Bridgestone MB-2. Won on Ebay (also) for a little over $200.00. Had to replace just a few things to bring it back to stock condition. The Mag 21 still works well. If I ever get around to racing, I think it would be a gas to do it on this bike.

Another view of my MB-3. I begged my wife to let me bid on it in late 2005. She agreed, with the condition that it would be my Christmas present. When I finally got to open the box, I was the happiest kid in the house. I couldn't believe just how "low-mileage" this bike is--the tires, grips, cables and brake blocks were all original and showed very little wear. I like to think that now it gets ridden the way it was made to be ridden--NOT a few miles on the bike path followed by years of storage! It gets dirty now from time to time--but I always put it away clean...

Sweet Bridgestones Epicurean!!!! Before I bought the Trek 8000 I was riding a Bridgestone MB-4 ( I think) it would have been very late 80's Purple to white fade paint job, along the lines of your 89 MB-3.

I recently obtained an '89 Trek 950 on ebay (it hasn't arrived yet). I plan to tune it up as required and present it to the kid who lives next door to my in-laws. He loves to ride with me when I'm there, but is currently on a department-store beater. My wife says it's good karma, but I'll certainly benefit as well! Besides, I'm looking forward to fixing up that old lugged Trek. I'll post my progress with it here.

Yes, they are asymmetrical. It even says so on the right chainstay decal on my Series 50.

This is my SM800 Cannondale. It arrived here with the time machine directly from 1987, the year that Mathias Rust landed at the Red Square, the Iron Lady got reelected, the Herald of Free Enterprise ferry sunk in the North Sea, Black Monday ....and also the year of 1st spots in the hitparade for songs like Madonna's 'Who's that gril' and George Michael's 'Faith' and movies like Fatal Attraction and Lethal Weapon.

It looks really good. I think someone bought it, put it in a box and stored it warm and comfy for almost 2 decades. I got the bike through a house painter. He got the bike as payment for work done.
