Studs finally come off

Well I finally got around to taking the studs off and roll out for a fun couple hours out on the sponge trails. Besides all the snow and ice melting we've had plenty of rain lately so the trails were sponge's in sections.

right on!

I took the studded tires off about 2 weeks ago (Sat 3/29). Just a couple days later a colleague (non-cycling motorist) says, "Be careful, it's slippery out there." :bang:

Turns out it was rainy only, and 40ͦ F.

I took the studs off, first ride yesterday. Still some hairy bits with frozen puddles in the morning, but a much faster and more enjoyable ride to work.

Heck, mine have been off for 3+ weeks now. Love it!

I took the winters off last weekend. I was going to keep them on until Mid-May because of work. But I ripped a sidewall in the rear tire, causing a flat, so I needed to change the tires anyway

haha I hear ya. It's the price of being "the boss!" That is, if I continue winter biking and don't, you know, get a car for the winter

The mechanic suggested a studded Schwalbe Marathon for the replacement, can any one advise? (not that I'm hijacking the thread or anything...)

sure, that's what I have. I like them. some choices for widths. after using a few diff. widths, if I was commuting I'd stay narrow. better to dig down to the pavement with. wider seems to get sidetracked more. if you're off-road, that's a whole diff. story

I have studs in my front tire and I think I will remove each stud off of the tire now that it is warmer.

I hope we get a tad more snow so they have enough to groom the trails early this year. My wife has asked about studded tires on her bike for a possible snow ride.
