Also in the news - Ellis Marsalis died and John Prine was on a ventilator last I heard.

We covered Bill Withers Ain't no sunshine a very few times. And one night a friend asked us to play it after not playing it in a couple of years. Here's our version, my son on guitar/vocals, my other son on drums, and me on bass not remembering how to play it.:D Of course that's the night someone decides to record it.

For those who follow weird art, Tom Every aka Dr. Evermor, a lifelong scrap metal artist and Wisconsin institution - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forevertron - died Monday.

Doesn't it, tho...
Hell, I'm still getting over Bowie.

Some of Withers' non-mainstream stuff is just outstanding. I don't know if it's called timbre, tone, or what, but his stuff was produced well and his voice was clear and concise.
.
The kind of stuff you hear when you walk into a post office and it's playing over a speaker, and you tell the lady behind the counter "That's Bill Withers," and she comes around the counter and gives you a hug. Happened about 10 years ago.

Withers and Burton Cummings have the kind of voices that make you wonder "who is that?"

Exactly the track I thought of when I first heard of Bill Wither's passing this morning, and melancholy sums it up perfectly. Haven't felt this bad about an artist I followed, and really admired, since Harry Chapin was killed.

always thought his first album's title said it so well about his music, "Just as I Am." He did things his way, and said what he truly felt.

RIP Bill, hope Grandma was waiting for you with her hands out.:(

Here's my favorite Bill Withers tune we covered. His really makes you feel his lyrics. He remains an inspiration to us. Thanks Bill Withers for giving us something to aspire to.

"Grandma's Hands", one of those you don't forget. Thanks for that, Bill (both of you)

Hey - Pine Knob t-shirt. That was always a fun venue, even when the band was lame.

Simple honesty of performance, as seen here, is so rarely seen anymore.

What a voice. Really blew some soul into this this lily-white boy's youth, via AM radio, mostly coming over the straights from Canada. Loved to sing along, as loud as possible.
