Centenario Coppi
15 September, 2019 will be Il Campionissimo's 100th birthday. In celebration, let's see everything you have related to Fausto Coppi. I'll start it off with a movie poster of Toto al Giro d'Italia starring Fausto and Gino Bartali.

Per Wikipedia
The Giro di Lombardia (English: Tour of Lombardy), officially Il Lombardia, is a cycling race in Lombardy, Italy. It is traditionally the last of the five 'Monuments' of the season, considered to be one of the most prestigious one-day events in cycling, and one of the last events on the UCI World Tour calendar. Nicknamed the Classica delle foglie morte ("the Classic of the falling (dead) leaves"), it is the most important Autumn Classic in cycling. The race's most famous climb is the Madonna del Ghisallo in the race finale. The first edition was held in 1905. Since its creation, the Giro di Lombardia has been the classic with the fewest interruptions in cycling; only the editions of 1943 and 1944 were cancelled for reasons of war. Italian Fausto Coppi won a record five times. 1946 Fausto Coppi (ITA) Bianchi 1947 Fausto Coppi (ITA) Bianchi 1948 Fausto Coppi (ITA) Bianchi 1949 Fausto Coppi (ITA) Bianchi–Ursus 1950 Renzo Soldani (ITA) Thomann 1951 Louison Bobet (FRA) Stella–Dunlop 1952 Giuseppe Minardi (ITA) Legnano 1953 Bruno Landi (ITA) Fiorelli 1954 Fausto Coppi (ITA) Bianchi–Pirelli |
As a side note - there should be Centenario Coppi rides organized by/for us c&v'ers.

Definitely two pillars of cycling history -- thanks for posting. I particularly like Bartali because of "My Italian Secret."

There is at least one ride in southwest Wisconsin. It would be cool if there are others and post pictures here.
It would be very cool if folks just got together and rode. Ride hard for a while, get into the discomfort zone. That's where Coppi lived. Then have a glass of wine and a piece of cheesecake, maybe a slice of Italian bread. Then post pictures. You only live once, Coppi is only 100 once. Why not do something? Have a day, live a little. Post a pic. You could die tomorrow. Don't leave it undone. https://www.pedalroom.com/p/douglas-...0-24916_11.jpg |
