1950s Schwinn New World
 

Hey!

I found this at a local thrift store and I'm trying to find out more information about it, including what it might be worth.

So far, I've learned that it's a New World Schwinn model produced in either 1952 or 1957. The model number I found on the frame beneath the pedals is: D19494

It's a three speed and everything appears to still function as it should.

I have photos, but I can't upload them since I'm a new user. If you'd like to see the bike let me know and I can figure out how to send you the photos.

​​I was wondering if it was older. I looked up the serial number uusing bike history's search tool, and it's what told me the '50s, but from reading about the New World series it seems production was already ending in the early '50s.

That is awesome, great find, great shape, very original, so cool.

I would encourage you to proceed with extreme caution, you do not want to compromise any aspect of this, be very careful with what ever you do with this, it is is a stellar find. ;)

That thrift store seriously dropped the ball assuming you got it for sensible $$$.

Not sure of real value but the Schwinn collectors would be all over this, amazing.

Here's a 1958 Paramount that I lucked onto a couple of years ago, we were born the same year.

I think I could JUST make out $25.00 on the red price sticker on the top tube.

I wonder if Richard Schwinn would be interested in hearing about this find.

He probably would be, seems to always be interested, he responded to several questions when I got the Paramount above. ;)

This is the point where you should get to The Cabe for the real experts to weigh in, if you're going to flip this, which would be sad imo, you will do well over there regardless. ;)

Is Richard Schwinn actually someone I could feasibly contact and expect a reply from? If so, how would I go about doing that?

Also, is he in the practice of buying old Schwinn's or what?

I doubt that he would be in the market for this but you never know.

He runs Waterford Precision Cycles, you can reach out to him through them.

The Cabe is where the hardcore buyers will be for this, I assume that is your goal here but I would think about it for a minute.

This is a once in a lifetime thing in our world, I know it seems silly but it really is a rare thing.
