Ultegra Levers

Hey does anybody know if you can service Ultegra levers. I have some 8020s (mechanical shift/hydro brake). My left lever will not shift my front derailleur now. Inside the lever the tooth that locks in and shifts now pops out and will not engage to throw a shift. Unfortunately there is no where to take it right now and I'm not sure if it is even repairable.

Wouldn't Shimano guaruntee it?

Sounds like you're about to live that 1X life.

Going back a few model generations, Shimano integrated shifters have been "one and done," with no serviceable parts inside. It would genuinely surprise me if the latest iteration was any different.

If it's new(ish) it should be under warranty, if it's not, you could replace it-- or go 1X and, and-- you could then use the paddle to operate a dropper. Silver lining, perhaps.

Give the insides a good rinse with WD40. May be some crud that needs to be removed.

This is what i thought too. After spraying the left lever down with WD40 is when the lever got worse. The tooth that is supposed to engage when shifting was slipping out because of all the lubricant. So then i used a q-tip with some citrus degreaser on it and dabbed around the slipping tooth as much as i could. Then i just let it sit to dry for a bit. Now that tooth is engaging again and is shifting most of the time. Not sure if i chipped or damaged any of the gearing in there when it was slipping because i don't know what it looked like before but i would caution anyone about shooting WD40 into their levers.

Sounds like my left shifter. Older 10 speed. Trying to shift to the big ring and nothing engages. A good flooding with WD-40 cleaned to the gunk .I used to use a lite Teflon lube but not anymore.
