Topeak Road Morph
 
I ordered this pump to fix roadside flats. The CO2 doesn’t put enough pressure in my 700x42 gravel bike tires and my Lezyne mini pump takes too long but it is a good pump. I just wanted a pump that wouldn’t kill me and I can get 50-70 psi in the tires. Hopefully I made a good choice. I guess I will find out.

You'll want the topeak mountain morph.

Not the road morph. Road morph is for low volume high pressure tires.

Topeak Mtn Morph is fine as far as utility is concerned but not as durable as Lezyne pumps. I moved on from Morph to Lezyne Micro Floor.

Im not familiar with that pump, but when choosing a bike pump you should take into consideration if the intended use is a high pressure low volume road tyre or a low pressure, high volume mtb tyre or anything in between.

There is always a tradeoff between achievable pressure and volume per stroke, so the Mountain Morph is probably more suitable for your purpose. The Road Morph will get there, it will take more strokes, but less force. You may prefer more, easier strokes over struggling fewer times. Kind of like spinning in a lower gear vs mashing in a higher one; I prefer the former.

Use 16g carts, not 12g--1x16g should get a 700cx2.1" tire to 30PSI. Threaded carts have less chance of loosing gas in piercing them.

Thanks for the responses. Reviews say the road morph does ok on MTB tires but maybe I should have purchased the mountain morph for my gravel bike. My Lezyne pump is the mountain version. Since I ride in the boonies I will ride with the road morph and the Lezyne mini pump and my 16 gram CO2 charges. Yes a bit overkill :lol: I use the CO2 to start then use the manual pump the rest of the way. Flats kill my buzz so I want to fix them ASAP. This was my first flat in about 4000 miles but you just never know when it will happen. A small strand of micro wire cause the flat.

I usually run 700x35 tires if that matters. If I like the road morph I will get the mountain morph for my MTB bikes. I’m not near a REI or a LBS I have to research and guess and use Amazon :twitchy: 90% of the time a guess lucky.

You want larger cartridges than 16g for a 42 if you want to get to 70 psi, more like a 38g. I find MSW's inflation chart to be the most accurate for figuring out what cartridge size is needed.

I ride 700x43s...I have no idea why on Earth anyone would even want 50PSI, even 40PSI is more than enough to have rock-firm tires....70PSI is lunacy.

I agree, but the OP was looking for up to 70 psi.

70 is crazy but I’m mostly on pavement since the county decided to pave the gravel :mad: if I go to an all gravel route I drop the air pressure significantly. Hard packed gravel is what the surface is in this area so about 40psi is what I like.

Road morph is a great pump, i've literally had mine for 10 years and it's still working great.

This was before lezynes time. Still one of few acutal "mini floor pumps" out there if you don't care about the bulk.

I have 2 road morphs and never have any trouble with them. They work great and get me to higher pressure than any other road pump I've tried over the years. I use them for my converted commuter/MTB too, but this has skinny tires now that are a lot closer to road size.

I like my road morph, doesn't take many pumps to hit 85psi on my 25mm tires so it's not a big deal on 40mm at 40psi. I swap between my road bike and mtb with 2.2" tires. Considering I used to use an old "pocket rocket" on the mtb the road morph is great.

I use my manual pump first since it's easier at lower pressures. And if I mismounted my tire, I have a chance of catching it before it blows the bead or pinches the tube. It's also already out since I'll use it to put a little air in the tube to give it some shape before putting it in the tire.

I've got a ten year old mountain morph for my cargo bike. Usually max of 60psi. No problems, but I have to be careful in how I hold the handle or I can pinch my fingers.
