Carry the water

Running question so I'm asking here, not specific to triathlons but just training.

What's your most convenient method of carrying water on a long run? Do you even bother, for runs under an hour?

If I'm going for less than a hour I don't take fluid along...unless it's extremely hot and I expect to be going for more than 30 minutes. I have a belt with a carrier for a standard-size water bottle. I situate it on my backside. And, I wear it snug so that it doesn't bounce around. I've also seen people run with Camlebacks...and I've tried that myself. But for me the fluid sloshing around in the bag was bothersome. You might be OK with it.

I can't stand the sloshing, made worse when I tried carrying one in a bike jersey back pocket. A fanny pack, some sort of belt harness?

This is what I use for running - the bottle stays secure:

I could work with that concept at least, thanks. Do you find that it doesn't bounce - the bottom of the bottle looks kind of free to swivel up. Or is that not a factor as you've used it?

@wphamilton - the belt stays secure and bottle has never ridden up. I was skeptical at first about the angled holder but it has worked out very well.

I wear camel back or waist pack I am debating going with one of those hand held bottles but Not sure I will like it

Agreed. These are great. When I would go long I would fill two of these flasks with straight Gatorade and carry a insulated bike bottle full of water in my hand. I tried other bigger bottles on a belt but were both too heavy, and drove me crazy when sloshing around half full. You can drain these pretty quick if the sloshing bugs you. Also a pack of 4 extra bottles is cheap and they are curved to fit against nicely against your torso.

And to op second question I always carried a bike bottle of water on all runs. Even 5ks. It’s was kind of my metronome for keeping turnover high, and it’s like doing thousands of low weight curls per week... switched hands every mile.

Under an hour run, no water. However for the past couple of years my under an hour runs I push my baby in a jog stroller and it has a convenient cup holder for a water bottle.
For longer runs (12 - 20 miles) I stash water bottles on my out and back route. Since 20 miles is the longest that I'll run or 10 miles out, 3 or 4 bottles is all it takes (depends on weather). I drink on the way remember where I chunk them so I can drink them on the way back.
