C-Record Crank w/ "21" date code? 1985 Amsted Gold Race edition?
3 Attachment(s)
I pulled this sweet c-record off an 80's Guerciotti carbon/alloy bonded bike. The date code is "21" in a square. It looks like an 84-87 model with the 7mm self extracting bolts and engraved shield logo. In the thread in the link below, Lotek said the 21 referred to a special Dutch Amsted Gold Race edition produced for only one week. Does anyone have any more info on this crank?

Amstel Gold Race not Amsted, and his post was a joke.

Couldn't quite tell, but that makes sense! In that case, does anyone know what the 21 stands for?
'86-'88 is a good period for these. Distributors had much on hand and unlike bread, did not have to rotate stock so vigorously. You will also find 31 in a square, and 11 in a square. |

'86 or a bit beyond is a good period for these. Note the stamped logo on the arms, earlier version. Distributors had much on hand and unlike bread, did not have to rotate stock so vigorously. You will also find 31 in a square, and 11 in a square. |
21 = 1986

Unlikely, given the engraved '84-only logos. Don't trust the charts for these codes.

not to hijack the thread |

I bought a c-record crank with 11 in a square off e-bay about 2 months ago

On Super Record, 11 in a square was definitely 1985 but not sure if the code applied to "C" Record as well as SR |
How about this set with an '11', I think these are the true 1st gen C Record crankset. The RD is from the same group.

Hmmm, how about a "42" in a square, printed logo? '88?

If the charts are to be believed (Kurt says don't always), and follows the earlier pattern, 61 should be 1990. Does that fit with the component in question?
