This Weather
Never knew the wind blew around here until one day it stopped and I fell down....
30+ mile an hour, wind chill in the 30's is really putting a damper on my rides. Don't wanna have to get back on the stationary so quick but guess I'll have to.....:winter: |
Well ... I went out at lunch, thinking at least it would be warmer at noon.
Not much ... and the winds were higher. Was 41 when I left the house, with winds in the low 20s. It's 39 not longer after I returned, with winds in the mid to high 20s. Real feel is 23. Brr |
adapt, improvise & overcome. the trainer will be there when you get home ;-)
|
Body has no problems getting warm and staying that way. I can break a sweat reading a book. It's sucking in that cold air that I hate.
|
I hear ya, just let the cats out & brrr, it's cold out! internet says it's 49 degrees but feels colder for some reason

I told you riding outdoors was different from riding inside on a trainer. Headwinds, crosswinds, cold, heat, humidity, and rain can all challenge your motivation. I used to be strictly a fair weather rider, but I have extended my riding season to include rides in temps down to about 30 degrees. But I cannot go as far, or as fast as I can when the temp is 65 or 70 degrees. And the further into fall we get, the fewer opportunities I have to ride with shorter days and more days that are either very cold, raining, or snowing. That is life. When the weather gets bad, I head inside for my workouts. But even in cold and snowy Wisconsin, I can usually ride regularly through Thanksgiving, and sporadically after that until things start to warm up in March or April.
Wind is tough as it will challenge you physically and mentally. |

Well, did 13 miles yesterday afternoon. 50 degrees with the wind blowing 21mph steady out of the south. Had a long downhill stretch right into the teeth that was brutal to me being a novice. Turned around and actually came back up the hill faster than I went down... Overall, it was a good ride.

But sometimes I think sidewinds are the worst ... at least with headwind you know what you're dealing with. |
My average sucked. Thought there for a little bit Strava was gonna ask if I was going backward.
|
Supposedly, its going to be 90 today for the first time in Dallas...
|
We're supposed to be in the high 80's up here in the Panhandle. Wind is already screaming though, even worse than Tuesday. Think I might stay in and ride hills on the stationary.
