2013 Caad10 worth getting? Any downsides?
 
Looking at one for $1050. This is in Cdn $. Looks low mileage. In comparison, Caad12 with 105 groupset are $2300 before tax, which is crazy. What are your thoughts? Anything I should look out for when meeting? Is it even worth considering the CAAD12?

Caad 10 is a great bike. Make sure it fits and there are no dents in the frame (scratches are fine).

Pretty old bike to be selling for 60% of it's original cost. Unless the market in your area is extra hot for those type bike in your area, the bike better be in museum piece condition. IMO, of course.

The 105 of 2013 is not the 105 of today. Today's Shimano 105 is much better with 11 speeds instead of 10. An extra gear may not seem like much, but it keeps the ratios a little closer over the range of gears on the back.

Kick in a few more bucks and get a new bike with new 105.

Cons = No disc wheels. Everything is going disc and tubless now. :cry:

That also would have been the 5700-series 105, which was the first year that it went to under-the-tape routing. 5700/6700 had a reputation for eating shifter cables and it doesn't shift as nicely as the generation before or after (which also made the jump to 11-speed).

The pics look good from what I can tell. Very little scuffs/scratches.

The problem with a new CAAD12 is those things are almost 3x the price ($2700 after tax). I can buy a pair of used carbon wheels and throw it on this old CAAD10 with that kind of money or even a new groupset.

I doubt the new CAAD frames have advance that much to justify the cost...

Way too much for a 7 year old bike with a lackluster groupset. Get a used CAAD 12 for the components alone.

What they both said. Nothing wrong with the frameset(if it fits perfectly), but that groupset blows.

I can verify the above that I emboldened. I ultimately upgraded to 5800 and said issues got resolved.

In 2011 I paid somewhere between $1200 and $1300 brand new from an authorized dealer. It's hard to say what a used one is worth. If the frame is outstanding to pristine I would probably pay up to $1000.

FWIW mine is the same color scheme as the one linked. I've seen only a small handful of red/white ones in the wild.
