Suggestions for 9 day tour near Toronto

I have 9 or ten days for a short tour near home in Toronto and am looking for suggestions of areas to explore. I have done the Bruce peninsula a lot so I don't really want to go there again. I am leaning towards going along the waterfront trail to Montreal but would love to hear where others have enjoyed touring in this general area.

I'm a New Yorker, but I have ridden the Waterfront Trail in Toronto a bit. However, the last time was around 2007. Are you saying that the trail now goes all the way to Montreal? Man, if that's the case, I would do it in a minute if I were you!

(And sorry about the tariffs.)

I've never done it, but have driven it a few times. Do the great lakes. Go to Niagara and follow to Windsor, then up to Sarnia, Goderich, then for time wise, you can see when to turn back home

Maybe you can cobble something together using this:

I recently did a lot of riding in the area between Kingston and Algonquin Park, there are a lot of really nice quiet roads running through the Canadian Shield in that area. If you start in Toronto, head up toward Lindsay and then Bancroft, over to Barry's Bay and down to Calabogie and then turn south-west and head toward the lake near Belleville or head more south and cross over to Prince Edward County and then you can ride along the lake is really nice between Trenton and Oshawa. Services are really sparse once you get north of highway 7 so some care in planning needs to be taken and there aren't a lot of 24 hour places if you end up stuck at night. I stayed in hotels when I was up there since the bugs are really intense.

Have you ridden Manitoulin Island? Maybe few days there, then north and explore 4-5 days before coming home.

Not close to TO, but what about Quebec (eastern townships, or Laurentian's).

VIA trains would allow you to go one way (e.g., Montreal) and then go back by train.

I am from Burlington and just did a trip in the Finger Lakes area. I know you said Toronto area - but I find NY State roads have far better shoulders than in Ontario. The state parks are great too and have lower fees. I did a one way car rental from Niagara Falls NY to Herkimer NY. It was really cheap and got me to a good starting point.
