Looking for recommendations for aftermarket carbon seatpost
I have an older Giant TCR. I'm looking for a source to buy a carbon seat post. Preferably a more aero design but round is ok if it's good.

What does your frame take? Posts with an aero upper section and round insertion section are few and far between.

I am a huge fan of the FSA SL-K ITC post, but it's getting pretty hard to find in anything other than 31.6x350. The three-bolt head should be adopted by everyone, AFAIC.

I like the Fizik offerings. For some reason the R1 model disappeared, but if I wanted to spend the money, the R00 seatpost would be what I do.

FSA K-force. Great post.

I have several of the FSA SL-K seat posts. As was mentioned before, the three bolt head is easy to adjust and it does not drift out of adjustment. I am OK with either a two bolt as done by Thomson or three bolt adjustment seat post. If the angle adjustment is not secure, like all the single bolt posts I have seen, I would stay away from them. I had a lot of trouble with a Ritchey single bolt post on our tandem slipping out of adjustment before I gave up and bought a Thomson post.
I did have one SL-K shear off on my hard tail trail bike a couple of years ago when I landed a little hard off a jump. I still ride on the one on my road bike. No issues there. Just not up to the beating I gave it riding off road. At the time I was maybe 250 pounds. FSA did not publish a weight limit for the post. FSA did warranty the post, but they insisted that it was cut by a sharp ridge on my frame. The frame was a Lynskey and there is no sharp ridge on the frame. I replaced the mountain bike post with a Thomson, which is in my opinion the best aluminum seat post I have seen. |
