What Bikes would be what cars.

I was thinking, what bikes would be what cars and this is what I came up with.

Road bikes = sedans
Cross bikes = rally cars
Mountain bikes= off road vehicles
Touring bikes= semi trucks
Tri-bikes = F1 vehicles
Vintage bikes= old classics
Fat bikes= monster trucks
Folding bikes= smart car
Hybrids bikes= SUVs

Just good for thought.

Very creative, I like it.

I have previously posted my autocentric concept on a few threads:

So I recently bought a Specialized Diverge Elite aluminum bike as a wet weather beater, and it rides nearly as nicely as the S-Works, so I'm very happy with the Diverge.

Now, the Cannondale is reserved completely for miserable studded-tire riding,and now I'm happy about that, and my riding needs are completely met. I liken my three bikes to a Lamborghini, a Lexus, and a Humvee. :D [see photos below]

I don't even like to compare the two. Cars are a necessary evil. A tool. Bikes are much more than that. But maybe that's just me.

Yeah. I am rarely impressed by cars. The only ones that resonate with me are some from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Things like muscle cars. A few years ago I saw a restored Roadrunner Superbird, complete with spoiler, during a ride. Pretty cool.

This is what one looks like, if you have never seen one:

I would say road bikes are the equivalent to sport cars, not 4 door sedans.

I'm thinking camper van. Cargo bikes would be more like semi trucks.

Baldy1953 04-19-18 08:55 AM

I would think the engine( rider) would dictate what kind of car could be compared to the bike. In most cars, there are different levels of horsepower making the same model sedate or sporty. Bike could be described the same way.

You can have a high dollar carbon bike with a little 4 cylinder ( old slow rider) and it would not be considered a Ferrarri .
Just my random thoughts on the matter. ( my mind wanders alot)

Maybe the racier road bikes are sports cars with the endurance more sedan like.

There's also relaxed upright hybrids (sedans), fitness hybrids (sports sedans), and flatbar roadbike hybrids (hot hatch)

One that may not be totally accurate

Folding bikes = POS ..... in my experience ...... absolutely horrible thing to ride.

In fact I think that's just inspired another thread.

WNCGoater 04-19-18 12:31 PM

I'd call road bikes more in the sports car, or "sportier" car, and touring bikes covering from big 4 door sedans to small-ish RV's.

Low end Road bike = Sedan
Higher end Road bike = Sports car
Aero bike = Nascar

Cruiser = YOur mom's car

Kedosto 04-19-18 03:36 PM

Mostly agree with the list -- pretty creative, BTW. Would change these;

Adventure/gravel bike = SUV
Hybrid = Crossover

Too literal an interpretation. You missed the point.

MikeyMK 04-19-18 04:35 PM
