Which frame you thinking about?
I love the way the trek stash looks.

Can we in the West still get Norwegian sandpaper? I would pay a healthy price for it.

seedsbelize 01-24-20 12:27 PM

Perhaps he overestimated the awesomeness of the awesome bent frame.....

Well, it's new to me.

2014 Canfield Nimble 9. With a basically brand new desert tan powdercoat.

So this, but tan:

My buddy at work has two Staches, one singlespeed and one 11 speed. He absolutely loves them. I'm not the biggest fan of them, it feels weird with those big heavy wheels and tires. Gobs of traction though.

Dunno about the stuff that you're using, but check out Abranet from Finland.

You said succinctly what I was trying to say.

The problem is that in the last year I've gone from 130-154, while seemingly maintaining the same diet, and I don't know why.

As most veteran Addictionites know, I suffer from radiation induced gastric problems. My gastro doc and my family doc have finally got my diet squared away that is compatible for blood sugar issues and my gastric issues. It relies heavily on certain vegetables and lean animal protein. The up side besides losing weight is that my riding has been the most enjoyable in probably 5 years. I recover quickly, sleep well, and feel great.

I always felt that I could eat anything and be OK but a plant-based diet and some quality animal protein has made a believer out of me. I try to eat only basic foods and never deliberately eat processed stuff.

Quality food has changed my life.

Edited to add, waffles/pancakes are not on my list of foods that I should eat and I don't know if Nutella is on my list or not but I wouldn't eat it anyway.

that’s a pretty sweet frame. Before I started cycling I thought that I wanted to get into mountain biking. We don’t have many trails where I live, and none are close to my house so realistically I would never get to go.
Further down the road and I am talking a few years I would like to branch out and get a gravel bike, when that time comes I may decide to go the mountain bike route just for the more versatility, I do love the crockett though.

Not enough snow. Walks in the fields with Benson only require some winter boots. No snowshoes required. :(

I'm very fortunate that I have a state park with about 20 miles of singletrack 15 minutes from my house, and a newly constructed trail system in a city park 5 minutes from my job. Otherwise northern Illinois does not have a lot to offer MTB-wise. If I lived anywhere else I would have never gotten into mountain biking.

Gravel is neat. I don't have a lot of it I can access on my routes from my house, but there is a lot of it starting about 30 miles West to the Mississippi. If I can manage to get my old MTB frame fixed I think it might turn itself into a gravel bike with some massive tire clearance.

I was sitting there, being modified, and a 51-year-old woman comes in, complaining of having needle phobia. When the nurse drew her blood, it looked like the woman was going to start crying.

Right there with you. It's only interesting for fueling purposes on endurance events, and there the question isn't "replace what I'm burning" but rather "what's the ideal for performance, assuming I'll truly replenish later".

Inquiring minds want to know - what's special about the Norwegian stuff? Is this like fancy natural sharpening stones?

abshipp 01-24-20 02:55 PM

Just closed the deal on the Canfield frame.

Should be here Wednesday!

Good Samaritan saw and stopped, but no make on the tag. Fortunately wife was home.
