Show me your BELLS
I see cyclists in my city and plenty of pics of commuter bikes here on the forums without bells. I thought they were pretty dorky at first, but it’s way more dorky to have to constantly yell “on your left/right”. So I started putting bells on my bikes and using them.
Any other dorky bell-ringing commuters? https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...1c40dc610.jpeg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...fc9b7314a.jpeg |

rgvg, that looks like a Centurion Pro Tour from about 1983...I had that same bike in the same color. Very nice. And nice bell, too.

I might use it for longer rides so I'm thinking of removing the rear rack but that seems like a shame seeing as how it's original to the bike. On the other hand I'm not so sure I want the extra weight on longer rides. But I can definitely see some nice aluminum fenders on it in the near future. Very nice ride. Makes me smile when I go out on it. The bell is a bit pricey, but it has a really audible and nice ring. |
To be more inclusive, I am considering changing the tune of the thread to "share a pic of your bell" -or- "share an audio clip of you yelling 'on your left'.

Yes, you're quite right. I got it last year and I think it had relatively low mileage, except it must have crashed at one point or other because the paint is scratched up like scattershot on the seat and down tubes. I'm just guessing she crashed on a gravelly or pebbly stretch. As far as I can tell it's just cosmetic damage.

I have the bar end incredibell and don't particularly care for it because it gets in the way when I want to use the bottom of the drops. I need to come up with something different.

My Spurcycle bell is louder, but the Knog Oi Luxe puts out enough decibels to alert pedestrians on my route and the minimalist design appeals to me

@RoadKill
Its not attractive, but I’m gonna try this for a while. Having it up on top of my stem was OK, but it’ll be real nice to be able to keep both hands on the hoods and also ring the bell. I’ll have to trim the excess off the zip tie strap so it doesn’t bother my fingers with my hands on the ramps but it doesn’t interfere with anything here that I can tell. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...b171b6e76.jpeg |
Further to above post, that’s a $1 bell and the striker rotates 360° through 16 detents.
But no, a pretty bell it ain’t. |

My resto-modded 1975 Motobecane Grand Jubilé required a suitably fancy bell.

This black Knog Oi bell fits the all black theme and is nice and unobtrusive.

I've got a bell installed in my velomobile. It's buried way down in the nose where it's hard to get a picture.
When the bell doesn't work, the horn does. ;) |
I used my bell the other day to warn a cat in the bike lane. It is hard to see, but there is a big orange cat next to the pickup truck.

May I ask what kind of bar tape that is? I had some tan colored cheap stuff like that for a while - no bueno. Yours looks much nicer.

Seriously? This post has been up for over a month without a response from @gugie?
