Garmin data questions

The vertical speed axis on Garmin Training Center (GTC) goes from -20 to +60. Anyway to change it into the range that I ride in (0 to 40)? (What's with minus speeds, anyway).

Anyway of changing the axis of the HR?

I've tried SportTracks and I don't see why people prefer it to GTC. What am I missing? (I know that I'm missing something because all it shows are the summary data and the route without streets. e.g. how do you show plots of speed vs. distance?)

Thanks,

Cliff

drop down in the top center of the plot area flips between time and distance on the horizontal axis.
I think the plot scales are auto zoning.
I dont think I have vertical speed on my screen. hmm ...
a negative vertical speed should be a descent, in a sensible world at least

I hate the plots in TC, good thing the files open as text files and are well annotated.
I'll be writing my own extractor/plotter for viewing the data. long live MATLAB

SportTracks is the way to go. Be sure to go to the plug-in page and download all the plug-ins you want. GTC is as lame as it gets.

I guess that I didn't explain myself clearly. The vertical or Y axis for speed goes from -20 to +60 mph. It doesn't have anything to do with ascent or descent speed.

Check the settings in your Garmin itself or Edit User Profile. You can set the settings from Speed to HR zones in here.

If there was a glitch in the data it will auto-set the axis irregardless. My Garmin once accidentally recorded a max speed of 1500+ mph, so the speed graph for that ride looked pretty much like a horizontal line with a huge spike in the middle.
