Centurion Racing Bike

Hi all
First post here. I'm Cliff, in Cheshire, in the UK....and i know very little about bikes!
I saved this Centurion bike last week from being scrapped.Someone was going to chuck it on the tip, so i offered them £10 for it, and think it's a bargain. Hoping someone here might know more about it's origin and date. I don't care about the value, i'm assuming it's worth a bit more than £10.
I'm guessing it's a fairly cheap Japanese / Eastern import. Has ITM Mod.Modial bars, Long Yih gear levers, DNP front derailleur and a Sachs-Huret rear derailleur. Says Aero cold forged on the crank.Came with the chrome guards. Just some rust in one patch on the front wheel, and the pedals are a bit rusty, but everything works fine, and it's really nice to ride......to me at least! I like the big frame....26" i think, and the wheels are 27". I found an old Selle seat from a mountain bike, the old one was really uncomfy.
Frame no. under the BB reads YF87071576.

I can't see it well enough to comment other than it looks pretty cool.

Looks ok. Non-drive-side pictures don't help much, though.

Centurions always have the best paint jobs, I think.

There's two more pics in that sequence if you scroll across a bit.....
sorry about the missing guitar pics etc....ignore! ( virgin media have lost them! ).....
no "drive-side shootings" though John, sorry....maybe tomorrow....
Tom Deakins @ Harris thinks it looks 1970's.....?
Wheels are French, 'Rigida' chromatix.......

Good save LanceBoyle! We don't see a lot of Centurions over here (well not since the Romans left anyway!)
The equipment as described is pretty low-end but those frames are nice and if it fits you well it's fairly simple to upgrade the wheels, gears, etc. The handlebars look like an unusual bend in your photo - I'd keep those on there. If it rides well as it is, you might not want to change anything. Definitely worth more than a tenner!

I am by no means a expert but did they make Centurions with braze on cable guides in the 70's? My guess would be 80s

I can't relate it to any Centurion I'm familiar with. That's not saying a lot.
