Spinergy 650b wheels

Found a couple pairs of Spinergy wheels in 650B size. I'm just wondering what they are worth. TIA MH

Just check solds on eBay. I sold a set but it was several years ago. Shipping on wheels is high.

Mad Honk 650b or 650c?

650c was what the TriGeeks use and most bike companies made a 650c tri bike at one time as well as small frame bike

650b is the size guys use to transform a regular road or touring bike into something with much fatter softer riding tires

When I saw Spinergy, my first thought was the Rev-X. Is this the model you have?

The Rev-X consisted of carbon rims with four carbon "spokes." These had a tendency to delaminate. Maybe why I don't see so many these days.

They also came in 650c size if memory serves. I had a pair on a tri bike way back when.

BG,
Looking into it a bit more they are the 650C with sew up tires. Rev X is the model but no apparent cracks in the carpet fiber spokes. Prices are very random on Flea bay and quality is also across the board. Some items show the cracks in the CF others are FS just because folks are afraid of of the sew-ups. I may wind up picking them up after a very close inspection. Thanks for the help folks! Smiles, MH

Asking prices are very random or SOLD prices? I find sold prices tend to be fairly consistent. People can and do ask random prices.

I have a set of 650C Rev-X's on a Cannondale, they came OEM on the R1000. These wheels are fairly robust, you just need to inspect them closely for damage. I think clinchers would be a little more desirable in the market.

I had a set of 650C Rev-X on a Softride Powerwing. I didn't like either. The fours pairs of thin spokes flex a fair amount, allowing lateral rim movement. Too many times, I was banked, over, approaching the apex of a corner when the rim deflected enough to contact the brake pad and cause a disturbing loss of speed. This is not a pleasant sensation!. In my experience, these wheels do not like to be ridden hard.

I have decided to steer clear of these wheels. I don't really need them but thought they were a curious bit of CF design. Smiles, MH

Glad you have found peace with the decision and put the brakes on this purchase. The money is better spent elsewhere in my humble opinion.
