28 mm on a Cervelo R2
Any one put 28 mm tires on their Cervelo R2? will they fit?

Which year? Which tire?

2016 rim brake probably gatorskins.
i guess i could just experiment with it but wasn't sure if anyone had tried it. |
Which wheels?

Friends don't let friends ride gatorskins.

I have a clone of that model R5 .... and it fits fairly beefy 28s (I think 22-mm inside rims?) and there is enough room I wouldn't worry. best thing, of course, is to measure.

I had an R3. It fit 23s, 25s would have rubbed (which means eventually sawed into the frame). This was from a long time ago (7 years?) and newer Cervelos come with 25 mm tires. (I don't think they've been making the R2 that long, though?) Also no matter the size of the tire itself, the rim you put it on has a lot of say in how wide it actually is in practice. |
That one is limited to 25c, especially with Contis.
Oh and please try better tires. |
I've got an R3 in the same model year which I think is pretty much the same as the R2 except for the fork. My wheels (rim brake) are 18mm internal and I run Conti GP4000 in 25. I don't think I could go to 28s.

25 max(actual inflate size when on rim not some garbage written on the side wall of the tyre) without rubbing, don’t listen to these clowns.
