Need UK date format

I’ve probably asked this before, but is there a way to set the date format to dd-MM-yyyy which is the U.K. date format?

The thread post dates are showing in US date format (MM-did-yyyy) and this is a little confusing sometimes.

I looked and all I can say is I tried to get the attention of a nice lady from Kent on another site but couldn't get a date in any format :(

@IBRyan Dr. IBRyan Stat!

taz777 05-17-19 12:37 AM

I’m still looking...and hoping!

Rollfast 05-17-19 12:50 AM

That was my reaction as well.

Hang in there, hopefully the mention got his attention or I'll leave a sticky note on his refrigerator.

DR. RYAN HERE! I saw the note on my refrigerator and then took off my headphones and heard me getting paged :D

I asked tech what we could do for all you UK date format people :) I will keep you in the loop!

Dr. Ryan, thank you for your help in matchmaking. I may finally get my beloved date!

If there is that change, maybe BF will also have to change the cost of everything from US dollars to pounds.

(Note: I am Australian, so the dollar is OK, but then I still have to calculate based on the US dollar being worth a bit more).

:)

Please, no, Rowan, the Canadians will be depressed.

Hey Taz, have you tried to change your time and date settings in the User Control Panel? Did it change your date format?

taz777 06-11-19 12:46 AM

Hi Ryan, unfortunately the date format displayed is still MM-dd-yyyy. For my locale, it should be dd-MM-yyyy.

It looks like there’s an option missing in the control panel and/or the forum software isn’t detecting my browser locale. Whilst I can set my time zone to London and the date stamps correctly reflect my location, the date _format_ is incorrect for me.

So I think it’s one of two issues: there’s a missing date format setting in the control panel or the software isn’t picking up my browser locale.

Okay thank you! Looking into this!

There is only one date format available on the software. Unfortunately it is not variable by user.

Okay, thanks for letting me know.

Time for ISO 8601!

Big to small: YYYY-MM-DD 24h:mm:ss +offset

And it is very likely the date is already being saved like that in the forum software itself.

Rollfast 06-16-19 09:46 PM

This is the only time you need to know...date 30 Aug 1990

PS It was grim up north indeed...

You haven't used vBulletin since version 3.xx over a decade ago, have you?

I'm sure they'll get a round tuit.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say here?

I'm probably too young to understand at 32. /S
I have been active on plenty of forums, lots of them more techy than this and more modern mediums. If you are active in places where there are a lot more nationalities running around than here, which seems to be a mostly US-entered forum, and come from a country where time and dates are written differently the options here seem confusing at times.

Rollfast 06-19-19 07:44 PM

I know that there is no 30th month, so I get it.

PS I used like version 1.0 of Jelsoft and Invision Power Boards and some sites I visit haven't changed their software in 20 years.

Just because I started using computers at the age of twelve...that was late compared to the kids these days.

And I know that biscuits came in tins as well.
