FS: 1968 Frejus Super Corsa Pro - 59cm

Hate to be selling this as I put a lot of love into the restoration and it rides so beautifully... Serial # 1833.L, Columbus tubing, Full Campagnolo Nuovo Record drivetrain, Campagnolo Record high-flange hubs, pedals, seat post, and headset, Campagnolo dropouts, Regina 5 speed freewheel, Universal Mod. 61 brakes and levers with new replica gum hoods and barrel adjusters, TTT Gran Prix stem and bars, Nisi Moncaliere rims, new Sella Italia Storica saddle (I can swap this for a Brooks Professional if requested), new shellacked cloth bar tape, new chain, and new Vitoria tubular tires, new cables and housings, Christophe toe clips with new straps. Paint is original, with a few minor touch-ups. I also replaced a few faded decals with UV protected ones from VeloCals, but most are original to the bike. Bike has been completely restored, all bearings have been serviced, it has been tuned, and rides absolutely beautifully. PM me if interested! It's a beauty. I would be afraid to ride it. (I am not interested beyond appearance) Somebody on here will buy that from you. I have no idea on value though.

If it were a 55cm-57cm, you would have a buyer! :love: That's the BEST looking "non restored" bike from that era that I've ever seen, are you sure it's not a respray? :thumb: We sold Legnano and Frejus bikes in the 70's until they became too scarce about 1977. I don't recall one coming out of the box that look as good as yours. ...and yes, $1600 is TOO low for this bike! verktyg :50: |
Thanks for that link :) that one looks to be slightly older, and has cottered cranks, not Campy Record, and not quite as good of a finish. Listed $1800, but who knows what offer was accepted? Hmm... you’ve given me something to think about.
Honestly though, I would rather it go to a C&V Frejus enthusiast, someone who will love it as much as I do, than get the most $$$ I can for it.

Remember if it did sell for $1800 that's $180 in Ebay Fees, not including Fees to PayPal, and even Ebay's nonsensical Fees on shipping. (I know why they do this and it was BS when they started it)
For the Record (Pardon the pun) I have never sold a bike on Ebay. Plenty on CL though. Never one this valuable though. |

Definitely not a respray :) the blue paint has a beautiful translucency to it, and was quite delicate, but polished up nicely. I was told it was garaged for a few decades before I bought it, and it shows. please feel free to PM me what you believe would be a reasonable value for the bike :) thanks again for the kind words, I’m just gushing over here! -Ian

Last year I managed to sell a cool Olmo Gran Sport from around 1960 for $950 after I mechanically restored and cleaned up all of the components. It was almost ready to ride (just needed glue on tires and an extra link the chain). I lost $300 on that transaction because I'd had a wheel set professionally built up (it came with incorrect later wheels).
Your Frejus is in extremely good condition by way of comparison, and just as rare. The size is a bit awkward with such a long reach compared to the seat tube, but I know many Italian racing frames were designed thusly. I think your price is fair, but you may need to expand your advertisement to include eBay and expect to pay those seller fees from the current asking. -Gregory |
I appreciate your input, Gregory. I do have the bike X-posted locally (same price) and on eBay (higher price). I have had two buyers drop out at the last minute, so have a box ready to go!
While I’m in no rush to sell, I would rather it not languish on the market when it could be ridden and enjoyed by a new owner. I would much rather the bike go to an enthusiast, so I will be lowering the price for BF members. I am also completely open for negotiations, possible trades, and other reasonable offers. As long as the bike goes to someone who will love it, I’m okay not making a few extra $$$ :) Price bump! -Ian

Beautiful bike! Nice work on the clean, polish, preservation. I've got a 61 and a 63 (track) that I really like. Hope it finds a good home. (If I hadn't just spent my last "bike account" dime on a couple other bikes....) Best wishes with the sale.

Sold to retyred, who has an absolutely BEAUTIFUL collection! If I didn’t have my wife and son in the car, I probably would have spent a few hours there with my jaw dropped, talking bikes, and definitely would have ended up paying HIM money for the chance to get one of them!
