What is the value of my used bike. Your opinion thread.
I can't rely on Bicyclebluebook so I created a thread for everyone here to value our bikes with our aftermarket parts. Also, the rarely and demand on the bike which are not factored in BBB.
How much can this bike be sold for online or in person? 1988 Schwinn Madison? Size: 52cm Condition: Good Saddle/Seatpost: San Marco Rolls/ UNO Handlebar/Stem: Origin8/Nitto Crankset: Sugino GLP w/MKS pedals Wheelset: Stock Suntour Sprint w/ Continental Gatorskin Fork: Original fork http://i67.tinypic.com/2pqlt7d.jpg |
Couple of hundred bucks maybe? Doesn't matter what it is "worth" only what someone is willing to pay if you are trying to sell it. You can think it is worth $800 but if the only person willing to buy it is willing to pay $250, then you have what it is worth, at least to them.

I wouldn't pay more than $250 for that bike.

Bicycles aren't like houses or cars, and the "value" will vary widely from one area to the next or one person to the next.
For example, I wouldn't pay any more than $50 for that bike. I'm sure it's a great bike and it may be worth quite a bit more than that to you or someone else, but that's all it's worth to me. |
The seat alone is around $60.
Damn, I guess its not an expensive bike. |

Seriously? I wouldn't pay $20 for a beat up Rolls.
It's in good condition for its age. I will take better pictures soon. |
It doesn't really matter because I'm not buying it.
|
Sold my Schwinn Madison for $250. It was beat up, no head badge, no decals. The crank was the original Sugino GLP and I got the Sakae stem, bar, and seatpost for it. Other than that the rest is basic

You asked for opinions, and now you're getting them. That said, $200.

$200 is actually what I paid for it a few days ago. |
yeah i thought you posted in another thread you just bought it.
what is it with people buying things and then trying to get validation from internet strangers after the fact..? |
Bike flipper.

Validation
I bought a very nice, all original, opaque blue, 1974 Schwinn "Traveler" for $20 bucks off Craigslist, last Saturday.I figure after I upgrade with new tires($40),tubes($10),rim tape($5) and bar tape($10), it should easily be worth $80 bucks. My daddy didn't raise no fool.

I'm not much of a Schwinn fan, but I would think an original track frame with real track dropouts would count for something.
The only notes I'm seeing on the Madison are people asking a fortune for them. https://velofinds.com/tag/schwinn/ (bottom of the page) Vintage Schwinn Madison | The Classic and Antique Bicycle Exchange I'd probably lose the basket. Cute, but it won't help the price. There is a subforum for C&V appraisals. The bike above crosses lines being a C&V Fixie. Classic and Vintage Bicycles: Whats it Worth? But really. I wouldn't give you a penny for the wrong side of a bike. |
