Speed Sensor w/ Garmin Question
I have a Garmin Edge 25 that I’d like to use on my Kinetic bike trainer this winter. I just want verify what I need for the Edge 25 to give me my speed while I’m on the bike. If I get the Garmin Speed Sensor, will that be what I need? And if so, will a different brand sensor also work? In the past, I’ve used a Cateye wireless bike computer, but because of the range limitations of that, mounting the computer was quite awkward. Just want to see what I need. Thanks!

You are fine, a head unit and a speed sensor on the rear wheel and ride on.
I started with my garmin 520 and a speed sensor to ride indoors on my dumb trainer, then I got a smart trainer so I can Zwift..... |
I use a Garmin 1030 and it will pick up the signal from my Specialized speed/cadence sensor.

easy. you are going zero miles per hour

Thanks for the help. As far as going zero mph, that’s probably safest in the basement.

Just a note that you can use any speed sensor that uses Ant+, it doesn't have to be Garmin branded.
The speed sensor is also useful outdoors, as it will give you more accurate speed than what you get from GPS. |
