Who makes the stiffest clincher rim that's somewhat light?
I'm a commuter and I want to get some stiffer wheels for my flat bar roadie.
Suggestions? |

I used to have Mavic MA40 on my track bike for training. Absolutely bulletproof. But that depends on your definition of "somewhat". At something like 550g per rim, that is on the heavy side. Mavic Open whatever are pretty strong eyeleted rims that are a decent weight. Around 420g each I think?

I would get one of those 455 gram niobium 30mm rims. That would be the stiffest gram for gram most likely. Traingles are stiff structures....thus the combination of deep v and special alloy helps much in this regard.

Velocity deep v's. Or anything deep v's.

hmmm.....Deep Vs are a bit heavy (about 560g), but I don't know what the original poster calls 'light'
Without going too expensive, I like Mavic CXP33s for a reasonable combination of weight and rigidity. |
I've got Deep-V's laced 32h 3x on my fixed gear and that thing is impossible to flex. A little heavier but its not really noticeable when I ride.

American Classic 420s. Light, stiff, strong, aero.
