Info on bike lost in fire
Looking for some details on this bike we lost in a garage fire. My husband really liked it so I’m wanting to know what to look for when we go shopping in the future.

Krocs?

A 21" 1983 Schwinn World would be my guess

World Sport. Alloy rims and one CroMo tube (seat tube). I assembled and sold a few of them. $189.95 new at the time. Non-original rear derailleur.

Those look like 'suicide' brake levers. The modern equivalent, interruptor-type levers, are much safer and work better. You have two choices, try to find him a 40-year old equivalent bike which may or may not fit him as well, or take him to a bike shop (once you're allowed to do that,) and have him pick out a new bike which will fit him correctly and have technical improvements in every system.

Here you go.

I'd go for a little larger bike than that one was. How tall is your husband? Around 6'?
I'd look for one around 56cm, maybe 58cm. A vintage Schwinn can make a good everyday beater bike. But there are also a lot of other nicer "road bikes" out there if one is doing more of long distance touring/training. |
Thanks
Thank you guys!
