Is it just another dropped seat stay endurance bike?

I think it is pretty nice. Cervelo claims it was built for speed and as one would expect, the frame is pretty light. Should be a pretty quick bike.

The bike below has GRX 810 with Easton AX wheels/bar/stem/post for $4000 list.

Colors are interesting. It also comes in a nice burgundy but not matte black.

Interesting that they list the Ultegra RX and the GRX models at the same price. The bikes are also identical, save FD, RD, STI, and brakes.
Neat colors- rich deep gloss to them.

That is clearly targeted at the go fast group of gravel riders- the geometry(HTA, STA, BB drop) are all more race/fast ride oriented vs adventure oriented.

And the fork has adjustable trail because that is apparently the next trend in gravel bikes.


Seems like a nice bike overall.

I like the adjustable font center, but the 700x42 clearance looks awful tight for gravel surfaces what with that shark-finned seat tube.

I think the 5mm is to make up for the difference between 700c and 650b.

The bike radar article says...

Cervélo’s take on the fork insert alters the position fore and aft by 5mm horizontally. As a result, Cervélo says when the bike is running a relatively slender tyre on a 700c wheel it will feel the same as when running a 650b wheel with a big 2-inch plus tyre.

They call the feature "Trail Mixer." Gotta love the marketing department. :rolleyes:

No lie, I am still a bit superficial about how a bike looks. I've always said if I wanted to go fast on Gravel I'd ride a superX, but I think this just changed my opinion.

Agreed. I love the gold. I wish the lettering wasn't yellow but alas..good looking bike.

I really like what Cervelo did with this one, geometry is pretty nice. I could see this as a replacement for both my road bike and gravel bike.

Yea as someone who swaps between 700x28, 700x33, 700x40. and 650bx48 semiregularly the handling changes substantially. A change in offset would be very helpful

Good looking bike, but I don't think I'd want the 73* headtube on gravel. My road bike is 73* and is pretty twitchy, my gravel bike is 71* and feels much more stable/smooth.

Perfect for unwinding after a long day of filling cavities.

I dunno, MY Singlespeed is 73/73 and I bomb gravel/dirt on it on 25's just because IDGAF with a high BB and it seems fine. would I do 20 miles of gravel on it, uhhh probably not because 25's but the geo... probably. (oddly enough it has some serious saddle to bar drop, and is probably my most comfortable bike also. )
The Trek Crossrip was 74/71.2 with a much lower BB and it just wanted to wash out all the time. It could just be something about how I ride and what I am comfortable with too. < translation I don't know how to ride, I just pedal.

Really good looking bike.

I saw the low end Aspero in burgundy and was kind of disappointed. It was heavy and the color was muted, similar to dry blood.

Nice bike.

Cervelo makes fantastic bikes.

I wonder what this will mean for their C series. Which is somewhere between road and gravel, a fondo bike I guess. I knew I was going to buy a C3 seconds into the test ride a before I even left the shop's parking lot. Never regretted it, and I don't feel a need for another drop bar bike having this one. If I lived somewhere that required more rubber, this new bike would be at the top of my list. Part of me would like to have an R3/R5 and an Aspero, but to be honest the C3 is just right for me.

I couldn't get the blue one to load in my browser, thanks for posting an image here. Cervelo tends to use awful paint jobs, I've had their bikes in spite of their looks. This one is an exception.

Any reviews of the Aspero yet (besides media reviews)? Media reviews didn't say much about the ride with the one exception being Peleton magazine which said it was the best gravel bike they have ever ridden. The Apex spec'd bike seems like the best deal at $300 more than a bare frameset.

I got the GRX model 3 weeks ago. I wasn't sure about the olive color, but after seeing it in the shop I liked it. And it's not matte black. :) I've ridden it
500 miles, and the ride is very stable. I've ridden in loose, washboard gravel and it handles it well. It was a bit rough, but I had the tire pressure at 40 psi.
This was a ride that was a mix of pavement, smooth gravel and loose gravel, so I had the pressure higher. I switched the tires to tubeless, so I would lower the
pressure if it was a ride with rougher roads.

Being a roadie, the flare on the bars was a change for me. But I got used to it and like it now. More stable when you're in the drops too. The GRX shifts
very well front and rear, like mechanical Ultegra. Having said that, GRX DI2 is available now, and I think I'll upgrade. I have Ultegra DI2 on my road bike and love it.

The 40mm Donnelly tires do well on gravel. I noticed a difference when I switched them to tubeless. On the road they cruise along fine too. It's nice to have the option
of exploring a trail or gravel road if I find one I haven't ridden, and these tires make that possible.

I saw the bare frame in teal green in the shop (Excel Sports in Boulder). It has flecking in it, very cool looking. And it's not matte black.

what size frame are you? the smaller frames have lots of BB drop. Something I am leery of as I love a higher BB.

54cm

Picked up a 54cm Aspero and swapped all my parts over from my Carbonda 505. I've got 3 rides on it so far, all incorporating tons of dirt that some might say are "MTB trails", and it's handled it all exceptionally well. Ride is incredible and geometry is nearly perfect for me. With my "road" setup (700x36 Challenge Strada Bianca TLR), it feels like a fast road bike.
