What info do you display on your cycling computer?
I’ve got a Garmin Edge 500 and use two pages of data display.
On one page I display: Speed Distance Time of Day Elapsed Time On the next data page I display: Heart Rate Cadence Total Elevation Grade % Temperature |
I only have a Cateye Micro Wireless. I display current speed and mileage for the day's ride.
|
Garmin 500
Screen 1 Speed Cadence Timer Total Distance Heart Rate Screen 2 (Climbing screen) Speed Gradient % heart rate cadence total feet climbed Screen 3 Time of day Avg Heart rate Temperature |
Speed and distance. Sometimes cadence or temperature instead of distance.
|
garmin edge 500

winning lottery numbers. wait, what? Sometimes I bring my car Garmin with map, current speed, and trip info.
|
Screen 1
Speed Cadence HR Screen 2 Timer Distance Avg speed Screen 3 Time of day Total ascent % grade Max speed |
Depends on the kinda ride I was doing and what kinda computer I had at the time.
For just rolling out to places I've never been and needing to get back by sundown I just kept an eye on elapsed time and time of day. For intervals, BPM and Elapsed Time. And a buncha others... |
Sigma BC1609STS...
Current speed and current distance. It has a little arrow that indicates if I am riding faster or slower than my average so I keep an eye on that as much as anything... if I see I am slipping, I work a little harder... if it shows me going faster, I keep it up. |
Garmin 305
Main screen I use 99% of the time: MPH Cadence : Total Distance |

My main screen is speed and odometer - then i can get adv speed, top speed, miles on trip and time of day.
|
I have a lot more showing than most of you... 7 things on the first two pages each. Speed, distance, cadence, HR, calories, ride time and one other thing on the first page. Second page is climbing related, so ascension, grade, cadence and HR are the main ones there.

MPH, rolling duration. or MPH and distance. or MPH and average speed.

speed and cadence

Most important for me on my Garmin:
- HR. (I don't have a PM). I try to ride hard but short of blowing up, as long as I can, and that involved targeting my HR to a narrow band, usually 150-160. If I'm over that for more than a few minutes, the matches are being burned, and I can count on some later suffering if there's another big climb. - The rest is speed, mph, distance on my 4-panel view. HR is the key data point for me, though. And when I download into SportTracks, I judge how hard my workout was not by the miles or elevation total, but by the % time I've spent in each HR. A good workout is nearly 2 hours in my two highest zones total - that usually involves a 5-6 hr ride. |
Cateye Astrale 8 here, I only really need to look at Speed and Cadence
|
Cheap @ss China crap wireless here. I got it off ebay last year. I just let the Scan function run, which displays:
Current speed Distance traveled Max Speed Avg Speed Elapsed Time for current ride I don't look at all that stuff, anyway. I just try to hold a given speed. I count my cadence in my head. |
Nothin.
|
Current speed
Distance Time (which isn't correct ... I think it's about 2 hours and 15 minutes fast) And usually a little symbol that indicates whether I'm going faster or slower than my average speed. The computer has other stuff, but I rarely look at anything else. |

speed and distance. Sigma wireless. Lost my cadence magnet.

Sigma 1009.
Speed is always there, of course. The other bit of screen real estate is usually set to trip distance when riding recreationally, average speed when trying to ride fast, and clock when commuting (even though I always wear my wristwatch). I tend to cycle through the available stats every once in a while, though. |
Garmin 305
