WTB Your high end hi ten bike

I am looking for a project bike. Do you have a gas pipe bike that needs some love? The ideal candidate will have anywhere from some to a lot of rust (patina). Turkey levers are preferred and I must say the frisson of fear when I squeeze the brake lever and nothing happens is worth top dollar to me. Bar tape that streams out behind the bike when in motion is a plus. I ride 56-57 cm frames, so something in the range of 60+ or 52- cm would be relished as an additional project challenge and I will pay extra for the appropriate 15 cm or 5 cm stem.

There was a perfect bike listed here about a year ago but I couldn’t find it. I am near to closing on a refinancing of my house with cash out so sky is the limit on price. Whatcha got?

Gosh someone on here was selling a great tribute bike, I bet you could pick it up cheap ...

The crankset isn't cottered so I apologize!

I've been using this crashed Fuji as a christmas decoration but you're welcome to the bike, the rust, the trashed wheels and the cottered crank for a negotiable price certainly somewhat less than what you cashed out of your house:

I cant help with the whole bike(no way am I parting with my Penneys Special Racer).

However I have the actual racing aero disc that was used during efforts to win several tour time trials.

Oh and some mightanium superbe recording turkey levers.

Lotsa great options here, but this one might be the best. Can the snow be included?

I'll knock $18 off the price so you can buy this instant snow powder from Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/Instant-Snow-...-1041737927472

And check this out:
  • Safe Material: Made of flame-******ant, non-toxic and Eco-friendly polymer, which transforms immediately into fluffy snow upon adding water
You probably don't want to use it around kids or dogs but I'm confident it's safer than the bike I'm selling.

Well now there's something else out there I didn't realize I needed. "Great for cloud slime" too!

Is this enough of a project? Travel bike?

That bike is smoking hot. I'm not sure Spaghetti Legs can afford it even after refinancing his house.

I'm just trying to make @Andy_K jealous because I have a true celeste Bianchi.

Look for a 1976 or so Motobecane Mirage in that classic subdued silver or silvery-blue near-monochromatic colorway. It'll look so good you won't notice slogging uphill on a 30+ lb bike.

Seriously, though, wish I'd kept mine. I'd have upgrade most of the components by now. But that subtle paint and swoopy curvy oh-so-French fork... ooh-la-la.

It's got a 75 degree head tube angle and corresponding wrinkles in the top tube and down tube, but that's part of the challenge, right?

Almost, but I prefer that the front tire actually overlap the down tube a little.

Now that it’s April 2, I find myself, again, strangely attracted to double butted tubing and pointed/tapered lugs. Go figure.

And I thought the problem was that fugly stem/adaptor combo.

kvnmuadib 04-03-21 12:15 AM

hey doc,is your perfect ten should be ten speeds total> I' m making a reasonable guess that you prefer a 53 /54-55 c-c frame c-c seat tube of course and a short stem?I don't want to be nosey but my sister lives near manssas .va but I dont think she has what your looking for,If the sky is the limit I would try a paris sport, from new jersey or a legueune cause they are classy and no one will give ithem a second look unless they have eyes in their head in which case they can be bought for love or money.........meanwhile i will check the nj craiglist and find you something for a small finders fee....actuataly I'm indepentendly weathy and this is a hobby of mine.....boy this is not a quick reply but who cares.....now you must by now I'm just kidding around but i will loofk for that perfect ten......ps. good luck in your search for the grail,I havent found it yet, pps When I was a child Iprayed and prayed for a bike but i finally realized that god didn't work thtat way.................So I stole a bike and prayed for forgiveness!!! happy easter passover and spring in general........not my words but the sentiment is clear

kvnmuadib 04-03-21 09:28 PM

there is a 6cm sr stem for 13 plus on this forun

jdawginsc 04-03-21 09:50 PM

Stem included because it won’t come out...stripped bolts no charge. Potential for internal cable routing through the holes...

Perfect except for I need a little steeper seat tube angle.

This bike is a ringer. It has decent tubing and forged drop out. Everyone knows gaspipe tubing is just better. Just throwing some shade on this bike so you don't waste your money on it when I have a perfectly good crashed Fuji with a steel cottered crank to sell.

shhh....he will never know.

and decent tubing is intact...this is not, which actually makes it less decent tubing...

Drillium in the tubes, bay-bee!

PS: I do have Schwinn LeTour with rust...but unfortunately it is solid and intact...
