Posting an active link in the Craigslist thread

I've tried a couple times to post an clickable active link to a craigslist add to share in that thread however it doesnt work. In fact it stars out the first part of the link like this. https://****tsford.craigslist.org/bop/d/chilliwack-campagnolo-vintage-bbs/7176697051.html. When i post that the word ****tsford shows up as ****tsford. And the link is never highlighted to indicate it works. I'ma bit tech challenged so some help would be great.

This is ridiculous. It even censors my explanation. The town name is Abb otsford with no spaces of course. Please explain to me the logic in the censor.

Not ridiculous. Bike Forums is an international site. The censored word is the Australian equal to the N word.

I can see it censoring aboriginal then if that is the source of the slang but maybe the software needs a little work if it's censoring things that aren't really a problem. I would never associate ****tsford with a slang and i don't believe any australians would either. I know enough australians living in the area over the years and none have ever mentioned the possibility. It's just to far out of context. I also understand that it is necessary censor certain words to prevent all kinds of issues on the site but isn't this going a little overboard?

And it doesn't censor aboriginal. Explain that one to me?

It doesn't censor negro either, but it does the N word.

Still doesn't make sense. The first three letters of the word aboriginal are the slang in question according to Wikipedia. So why doesnt the program censor that part of tbe word. Clearly it doesnt work all that well then.

a-b-o versus a-b-b-o.

That's why.

merrman 08-15-20 05:58 PM

So you can't see my confusion. A-b-o is the slang (I researched this to check)but it is not censored in the word aboriginal but somehow ****tsford is a problem. I realize you can't necessarily do anything but the system isn't logical in how it chooses to censor. I doubt the good people of ****tsford Australia have a problem with the name of their city. 😉

The censor is stupid. It’s a very blunt instrument. I once wanted to post a YouTube video but the random string of letters in the link contained a 3 letter word that was filtered so it was impossible to post.

Similarly, we can’t discuss our own species, **** sapiens, because the first word is on the no-no list.

Both versions are used, for the record (Wikipedia is not a fantastic resource for slang). You should be able to post your link now, though.
