Lugged Steel frames....who's riding them??
 

Carbon fiber guys have their thread here somewhere, so now its time for steel (remember steel?) to have a go. I ride a lugged Romulus (Rivendell knock-off) but alas no photo access at present.

I'm riding a Mondonico Futura Legerro. Really sweet ride. I'm currently looking for a second steel bike to replace my rain old bike, '86 Ironman, that got tatered in an accident. Cars and bikes don't mix well.

I'm riding two of them:

1985 Serotta Nova Special

own a couple more, and am even selling a couple. Of course, my Vitus 979 is my only NON-steel frame. You could say I like it. Nothing like lugs and good old ferrous metal.

I've got 9 frames (6 steel, 3 alu), 5 of which are lugged steel.
While my best frame is my non-lugged steel Cervelo, I have a
1988 531c Raleigh which is AWESOME. I would still race on it.

A while ago my Cervelo needed a minor repair, so I put
all the fancy components on the Raleigh (including the carbon fork),
and I could barely tell the difference.

I'm riding them.
I just got a "new" 1984 Trek model 520 (in "501 steel"), and already had a mid '80s Panasonic road bike ("1020 high tensile steel")...surprisingly, their geometry is spookily similar - 1 cm shorter chain stays and 1 cm taller seat tube on the Panasonic, and eyballing the angles they look pretty parallel. I believe the 1020 steel is considered ordinary while the 501 Reynolds steel is supposed to be much higher quality...is this correct?
I've commuted at least 20,000 urban km on the Panasonic since I bought it used in 1993 and I intend to neuter (I mean "fix") it soon.

1984 Lotus Classic(Japanese made)

More lke 45 lbs. I did 60 miles on it last weekend. It makes the other one seem weightless by comparison.

I roll with the 1986 Nishiki Olympic 10-Speed. I have nothing against Carbon, Aluminum or other material but this old bike serves me well.

Damn, that is a beautiful bike, particularly the richness of the red color. God, I hate the modern fat-tubed sloping TT look of today's bike...glad I got a Lemond Sarthe! :p
