there has been at least one other thread about this same auction, a prior listing.
|
What's the most this Bianchi would go for $300 or $400?
|
Seller's ebay username is highly apropos.
|
ah yes, a classic

He says that aside from the brakes, chainrings, and derailleurs it's all Campy. So that potentially means the cranks, hubs, and DT shifters. Those + a motley crew of random components + a decent but nowhere near collectible frame does not equal anywhere near $300 for me. |
Maybe he figures if he posts it often enough someone will think that's the going price and be stupid enough to take him up on it. Never posted on ebay before, does it cost to post if you don't sell (I imagine they get a cut if something does sell - or is it a straight pay per add kind of thing?)
|
It's the cost of those SunRace derailleurs that pushed it over the $9K barrier.
|
Did you see his other bikes he's trying to pass off as "collectible" or their opening bid prices? http://sporting-goods.shop.ebay.com/...=p3911.c0.m282
^^ Almost $1k opening bids for a boring Giant MTB, a decent Panasonic 500, and some strange Lotus bmx/mtb cruiser. If this isn't humor it's certainly insanity. |
yes but the bianchi is "cornerstone of my collection"!
|
Hopefully, it's a joke. A bad one, if it is...

I'll add he's from Bergen County, NJ, which has bred some very absurd people. |
What are you guys so down about? This bike (with reflectors and dork disc) helped his uncle train for the TDF. Maybe you can get his uncle to sign the bike once you do the buy-it-now. And let's not forget that he needs to send his kid to college.
EDIT - his uncle may be Jonathan Boyer - the first American to ride the TDF in 1981 |
I wonder if he will throw in these glasses for free if you bid on the bike:

If it increased in value by $300 every year since '81, that's just about his asking.
Hey guys most of the original decals are in good shape. |
I wonder if he'll take Canadian Pesos...

I wonder if he wants another Giant Iguana to flip? I've one in nicer shape with original saddle and a bottle cage that hasn't been bent to ____ he could have for $300 shipped.
I think that Giant of his has a bent fork and all the flat black paint on the frame is not original. Classy! |
Gee, if a Celeste one is worth $400 and a red one is worth $9,500, then a can of Ferrari red paint isn't that expensive, especially if you order it from a 3rd party car paint place. BTW there are 6 different reds that Ferrari uses.......
|
Add in a few bucks for some repro decals and you're golden my friend...

I like the utterly useless pics and the description that goes on and on...and all in bold!
