Spinnergy wheels 700
Hi!
I've just gotten a very nice deal for a carbon spinnergy rev-x wheelset plus a 7800 Dura Ace groupset. I'm planning on putting everything on a frame I have. But first move, first problem. I've struggled like a madman to put tires on the wheels. I found it nearly impossible. I made it for the front wheel with a used tire. But then, big mistake, I tried with a new tire on the back wheel. Doing that I've punctured the inner tube and can't take anything off now. Are the rims diameter notabley bigger than normal? Or is it just me… Now I'm afraid i might damage the rim because of the forces i need to remove the tire. Might just cut it Thanks! |

Spinnergy Rev-X wheels were Banned by the UCI for good reasons.
If having reports of these wheels "‘explode’ underneath them without warning, causing broken bones and other gruesome injuries" don't bother you: Have at it. Read more at https://www.cyclingweekly.com/news/l...2TmwU4ciOIo.99 |

I recall reading on this forum that other people have had the same issue. They're very difficult rims to mount tires on. I've heard that heating your tire up in the oven (not scorching hot, but warm to the touch) can help loosen it up a bit and make it easier to mount. I guess for you it's already on but the tube is shot and you can't get one of the beads back over the rim to replace the tube... may want to just take it to a bike shop so they can help.

It'll make a lovely wall hanger.
Those Spinergys might not quite cut it as actual wheels, but they do look undeniably badass. And if it wasn't for the exposed shift cables, the 7800 group would be the prettiest one ever. The FC-7800 is gorgeous AF. Mind you, the aesthetic of the group and wheels isn't quite on the same page... |

Everyone's got their own aesthetic, but to me they just look kinda stupid in addition to having a bad reputation.

Hahaha, great gifs.
In all honesty, I also think they look weird and not that beautiful on a bike. But they're part of the 90's crayziness and are after all super iconic. I'd love to test a pair of them (if I can get rid of that tire) and and create a superporn bike. We're somehow talking about vintage bikes – but not quite: the plan is to mount them on a 2002 Cervélo Soloist |
