Any one recommend a bike fitter? (southern california)
 

So i want to get my first bike fit now that i have a new bike i want to get fitted on to my bike.
do any of you recommend a bike fitter. i live in LA.

and if you could run down how your fit went, and if you liked it, how long did it take, just general info i guess thanks .

Wow... I wonder how much it cost to get that kind of service. Is it limited to Trek bikes?

From what I have seen they have trek basic fit (the only thing it doesn't include is the motion capture) which is $150 and the the trek fit with motion capture which is $250. This trek fit actually seems good.

Not limited to Trek bikes at all.

The guys at Helen's Cycles in Santa Monica are good. They are reasonably priced and do a good job.

I can confirm - the motion capture was valuable at helping the tech align my pedal cleats to minimize lateral strain across the pedal stroke.

are you here in southern california i cant seem to find any places down here that do the trek precision fitting????

Highly recommend Steven Carre at Bike Effect in Santa Monica (have not worked with the other fitter, Ron).

He is a guru, and I largely think that while advanced fitting systems are great, ultimately the fitter determines the true quality of the fit.

yeah ive herd of them too if you dont mund me asking which fit did you get?? the basic fit or the full fit which is pretty expensive.

The full fit. I have quite a few anatomic issues that really need work to get solid on the bike.

The Trek Bicycle Superstore in San Diego has Trek Precision Fit. That is, assuming you can make it all the way back there from drooling on all the awesome bikes they have on the showroom.

Took my son there - fitted him on road and TT bike over 3 months and worked on pedaling technique.

Cool ,, does he use stuff like retul , or motion capture,, or does he just do everything by hand??

I believe he is Retul certified, but by hand. They do Retul at the Carson Velodrome (I Think).

For a 1st fit a machine/Retul may be good. We wanted the more nuance/expert based hand fitting.

im thinking of getting my fit done by ero sports Jim Manton. he fits out of a velodrom.

I got a Guru fit in September of 2015.


I've been riding road bikes since 1986, and the Guru fit is the best $150.00 I've spent, without a doubt. I've never been happier on the bike.

yeah so i have gone with jim manton at ero sports and well we had to reschedule due to a bug in his scheduling system but he has more than made it up. and we have rescheduled for this upcoming saturday so when i get it done ill share the experience.

Hey so I did my bike at ero sports with Jim manton and he is a good bike fitter we ultimately had to lower my saddle. Y a lot and had to switch from 100mm stem to a 120mm he also corrected my knee tracking, he is very knowledgeable in the bike fitting aspect ,,
5 stars on the bike fit, i feel like we could have spent a little more time fine tuning. But over all bike fit did make a huge difference with power and comfort.
