Kona Rove ST 2019 Mudguards

Hi guys,
2 months ago I upgraded from my Kona Rove AL (2016) to the steel steed Rove from 2019. So far, the bike has been the greatest I've ever ridden, just beautiful.
Now, the weather has turned nasty, and I still want to ride, but without the mudguards I am soaking wet within 300 meters.
I went to three different LBS, and searched online (wiggle, bike24 etc) and couldn't find decent mudguards that would fit this bike (650b x 47 mm tyres).
When I say decent, I mean the full mudguards which are attached to the frame, and are not flapping around. Also, if possible that they don't cost a ridiculous amount of money, because in the end mudguards are just mudguards and I'm not spending 100 euros on them.

Please advise which mudguards would fit this bike, any experiences with these tyre sizes and mudguards are also welcome!

I'm sorry, I don't see anything in your post?

For that width fender you're going to want to stick with aluminum as plastic will be extremely floppy. Velo Orange makes the best fenders that balance quality with cost. I've used two different sets for a few thousand miles of gravel and occasional singletrack riding (in addition to road) and haven't had any complaints. They work well.

I run 52mm fenders with my 650bx47, they work for me but really the fender should be 10mm wider than the tire for best coverage.

26x60mm planet bike cascadias fit 650bx47 perfectly, if your frame has the clearance. My bike doesn't and I went with SKS P50's. They just cover the tire but still keep me dry.

Thanks guys!

I like the velo orange ones, but they are a little pricey.
I see now that planet bike cascadias have also 27.5 x 50mm and 27.5 x 60mm, for about 60 bucks on amazon. I would go for 60mm, but I'm afraid that I won't have enough clearance.
Anyway, I sent an e-mail to Kona for their suggestion to be sure about the clearance. Will post updates.

Cheers

Honestly I run an Ass Saver off the back of my seat and I do ok. Even with 40mm Maxxis Ramblers going through mud I was ok. The Fender Bender looks great. They have one for the downtube as well. For only about $18 each, it's worth a shot.

Following this. I too have a new 2019 Rove ST which I LOVE, and while I live in SoCal and likely won't need them, I'd like to see what solution you come up with for mudgards/fenders - I plan on some trips up to the NW soon. But yeah, killer bike, ridiculous really the bang for buck with this beast.

I know people rag on the plastic fenders, but I recently installed a pair of SKS Longboards on my Surly Cross Check, and they're pretty great. The front one flops around a bit when you ride no-hands, but otherwise they're very solid, even off-road. Plus, the front has the emergency feature that releases the fender should a rock get caught up underneath it. For the price, they're hard to beat, and are MUCH easier to install (and remove) than the VO ones.

I'm also a big fan of Longboards, and agree with EdwinHeadwind based on my experiences. I'm always amazed how clean my drive train remains after riding in the muck or rain.

So, no response from Kona, but LBS where I bought a bike told me to bring it to them and they promised to figure something out. Can't wait.
I will post pictures here.

maybe ask this guy?

I've seen his videos. However, the 2018 Rove ST has 700c x 36mm tires, which is basically the same as my old Rove AL, this wouldn't be a problem.
2019 model with 650b x 47mm is a whole different issue.

So, I fitted the Zefal Paragon 50 mudguards. Pictures soon.

How are you liking them so far?

They're great! The fit is not exactly super-tight, but they get the job done by keeping the water and mud away from me and the bike mech.

I wanted to post pictures but wasn't allowed due to an insufficient number of posts :-(.

The Portland Design Works 650 Beast may have been a solution:

So do the SKS P50 fit the Kona Rove ST 650?

or which of the 2 fit better - SKS or zefal?
