Assessing Value of Old Concorde Bike

Hello everyone,

I have this older Concorde bike collecting dust on my porch (prefer using my mountain bike to get around), but know very little about bikes. I posted it on Craigslist for $100.00 (Canadian) and had about 30 replies in half an hour. Someone replied saying the bike is probably worth a bit more than that. I'm sure it's not worth a whole lot, but was wondering if anyone knew what a reasonable price would be to sell it?

It's in decent shape, runs fine, with mild wear - including damage to some of the stickers.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Post pics from the other side if you can.
Also would be interesting to know where in Canada you are.
In vancouver practically no old road bike is posted for $100 or less. If it's posted at 100 it's usually gone in a few hours.
That said, your bike actually looks like it's at least not bottom end, so you could ask a bit more and probably still get bites.

Thanks for the reply. It's in bike storage at the moment, but the other side would be in very similar condition.

I'm in Burnaby, B.C.

A Concorde would probably be worth more. But I am not entirely convinced that your bike is actually a Concorde. It looks too plain.

Is that a tubing sticker on the bottom of the seat tube? Is there anything stamped on the dropouts

The other side will show the components, which always interests people here. If in burnaby I've seen postings for good quality bikes up to $200 disappear off cl relatively quick. Over that seems to take a bit longer but still some priced higher still disappear fast depending on the bike.

Of course lots of people ask for over 200 but dunno if they get it. Thats even if the bike is bottom end. Italian ones seem to be priced a bit higher too.

Is there a way to tell if it is a genuine Concorde?

I don't know but people on this forum are sometimes incredible at determining the identity of bikes, if provided with good quality photos showing details such as components, lugs, seatposts, any decals on the bike, etc.... also serial numbers (sometimes on the bottom of the bike or the dropouts).

Good luck selling your bike.

There's a What's It Worth Appraisal Forum. Your post will probably get kicked over there by the moderator.

I am not seeing any obvious giveaways, such as the fork crown panto, or other clues that indicate a frame that came from Ciöcc or Billato. You'd have to do some research, and a good place to start would be here:

Check out the bike in post # 47 ...

Concorde is a Dutch brand who sold bikes ranging from the low-end, right up to bikes raced in Grand Tours. They're most recognized for sponsoring the PDM team from the mid- to late-1980s through to the early 1990s. I purchased a Columbus Aelle R tubed, Campagnolo Athena-specced Concorde when I was in high school.

I would say your bike is lower to mid-range and is worth around $250 CAD in that condition. It looks like it has a Shimano groupset (RX100 maybe). There's nothing outstanding or rare about it. It would have been made in the early 1990s.

I live in Surrey, so I know the Vancouver market fairly well.

Oh, wow. Good find. That looks like the exact same bike. I can see if the original poster had any information on it.

Thank you :)

Seems unfair to those 30 people that contacted you wanting to buy the bike for $100. I'd sell it to the first serious buyer that contacted you.

Moved to Appraisals.
