Switching forks on a Schwinn Circuit

I have a schwinn circuit with an after market front fork. It is all black, and while it looks good I would rather go with a racing style front fork. No eyelets, chrome and cro mo. Anyway I have a viscount with a chromoly front fork that is also chrome but the wheels on this bike are 27 1 1/4. My question, can I put the chrome forks on the circuit? I have some long reach brakes. What am I missing? will this work?

viscount came with 27 1/4 wheels. the fork is nice, cro-mo, and will look great with the circuit. The circuit is designed for wheels that are 700 c. Physically the bike can handle the slightly bigger diameter tire.

will the ride be affected? Is this a bad idea?

You can get a chrome cro mo 700c replacement fork on Amazon for about $40 fyi

Using the Viscount seems like a step backwards.

Look for a Tange chrome fork. Plenty NOS and used out there. I have one on my Schwinn Superior and it works great.

Agree with the above. The Circuit is a late '80s crit bike that should have narrow 700c wheels and short/mid reach side-pulls. Except for the '87 model, I think the bike came with an all chrome fork.

I'd cruz down to your favorite LBS or better still the oldest LBS in town and see if they have something cool around that fits the frame.

Thank you for all the help. The viscount front fork is not the death fork and it is also chromoly. I think the plan to go to an LBS is a great idea. I know my guy will have one. just like to reuse if i can.

Hey, I have a fork from my friend's 1987 Circuit. It is in good shape but well used. He had a frame break on him while he was cruising Santa Barbara a few years ago. He took all the components off and gave them to me. The fork wasn't damaged and appears to be OK.I can't remember what size frame it was so check your requirements . If you want it , I could send it , I am not sure what it would cost to ship. Probably best to use USPS. I did build a bike for him to replace his Circuit so maybe $25 + shipping?
