I put a mix of stuff on my RB1, its that '90-ish red with white band on the seat tube,
which I reamed out to 27.2 ID.

<C> newer 'race triple' . 50,40, 24, Campag Rally RD, Triomphe Leisure FD , Campag friction bar cons..

don't ride it much, since I went back to IG hubs on my daily ride, R'off

& Brompton- SA BSR/AW3.

not the same AW3, as the one I had when JFK was breathing though..

XO-2 I recently picked up to build for my wife. For those not familure with the XO's they are a road bike on 26 inch wheels. They came with Mustache bars.

Picked up a set of Mustache bars last week for it that are more how it came stock. The rims and front hub are original but somebody tried to make it a single speed and laced the rear to a early 80's Durace hub. I have a set of Mavic rims on Deore hubs I may use on the bike. I also have a a set of LX derailleurs and 7 speed bar ends that will probably make their way on it.

I've had this 1984 400 since it was new. Some mods so it would work for touring.

I had an XO2 that I gave to one of my sisters. It has drop bars/bar ends and a Brooks Flyer.
The front wheel has a Sun rim, WTB hub and tie dye titanium spokes.

No pics, maybe someday.

I have come to the conclusion that in a sort of karma sense, Bridgestones were built to ride and modify and ride some more. There really isn't, in a meaningful sense, a stock bike. Instead, they evolve.

Apparently they swapped back and forth between Mustache and dirtdrops. The 92 catalogs show Mustache and the 93 shows Dirt drops.

I have a Bridgestone Kabuki Super Speed that I converted to 3 speed, using a Shimano hub and Nashbar alloy rims. At first I kept the drop bars, but later I converted to flat bars and put the derailleurs back on so that I could use the 3 speed wheel on my daughter's bike. Now I have the 3 speed wheel back on the Kabuki with the flat bars. My Kabuki sometimes gets treated like an Erector set. I build it up, then take it apart and rebuild it in a different combination. If I see a part, either by itself or on a used bike, that has potential, then I add it to the mix.

My LBS has a purple XO-2. It has Nitto Dirt Drops that look to be OEM.

well, i'm still holding onto the original build kit that came with my RB-1, including the B-stone tires, in case a collector wants to buy it in the future. although i don't have plans to sell it anytime soon...

Great looking track bike. Too bad it is too small for me.

deathhare 06-22-11 04:24 PM

Yeah too small for me too or I'd just keep it. 52cm.

Rocket-Sauce, you sure about the year? Your paint should identify it as a 1994, not 1990, I believe.

1994 RB-1 that should be on the way to me within the week.

Yep, I'm sure. I built it up for my wife. I had it powdercoated "Umass Maroon" (her alma mater where she was on the Varsity Crew) and I liked the '94 decals better than the '90. It is definitely more maroon in person than it looks in that shot. And there is some metal flake to make it really pop in the sun. I had it side by side with a '94 and the colors are not even close. I built it up to be as comfortable as possible for her (low gearing, plush saddle, fat 28c tires) so she would like riding it....

Here is the "before" (sorry no shot of the fork):

1988 Bridgestone 550

'Twas a fine bicycle. This had a Suntour Alpha-5000 indexed group on it that shifted flawlessly. I've heard of some problems with the indexed suntour groups, but definitely didn't notice any issues with this. Unfortunately it was too small for me and we ended up selling it before we moved back east.

Gotcha, that makes sense. The color looked a little dark, but I figured it was just weird lighting or something -- the decal swap is what tricked me.

My RB-1 should be arriving tomorrow!

how about a MB-5 drop bar conversion...

Here's a recent project, currently serving as my "post office run" bike.

I got this MB1 this winter. Put drops on and use it for touring. Looking for forks for it.

My girlfriend's bike. Shimergo combo. If it said "Rb-1" isntead of "Rb-2" then this would definitely be mine. It offers a very nice ride though.
