New XC race bike

New bike! It's already dirty.

Bianchi Methanol SX frame
Fox 32 fork
Mavic Crossmax Light wheelset
XTR derailleur and shifter
XT brakes
XTR crankset
XTR pedals
Ritchey bars and seatpost
Bianchi stem
Fizik saddle

Retired my 26'er HT. Still getting used to the "bigger" wheels on technical stuff, but on fire roads it's a rocket. Not totally sold on 1X though, but so far it's ok.

Looks fast sitting still. I think I want a 29er trail bike.

Looks like a good climber.

With the lockout, the steep steerer, and the narrower bars, it feel like a roadbike on the hills. I have the bars at 66CM width, and it really changed the bike for the better (for me).

Congratulations! That's certainly a big jump going from 26" to 29" isn't it? What's the stem length and how much travel on the fork? Why aren't you sold on the 1X?

As someone who also went directly from 26" to 29" I share your initial misgivings; I feel like I'm riding a monster truck sometimes. I can understand why trail riders prefer wider tires, dropper posts and going tubeless.

I think the stem is like a 90mm (100 at the longest). The factory spec for the stem and fork were spot on. I can spin out the 1X on fast descents, so I think I have to up the front chainring, but then lose some bottom end for the super steep stuff. With pretty extreme ups/downs in the backcountry, the 1X is definitely a compromise.
