It's for nerve pain. The doc said to try 2 caps and it put me out so far that Mrs. John couldn't wake me up. Scared her. Scared me too when I heard about it.

Best of luck with your wife, that sounds terrifying to be perfectly honest, and I had no idea any of that was even a possibility. I'm learning a lot of things about scary injuries I didn't know existed on here lately.

I'd never heard of Gabapentin either but they gave it to my dog when she tore her ACL.

They had me on valium for my back for a week after the ER and it messed me up. I have depression anyway, mostly just managed now but used to be worse, and it was not what I needed. Put me in a bad place. Doing much better without any meds.

I've stopped even taking ibuprofen or tylenol for my back lately, I'd rather just feel it, because if I feel it I know that means I need to adjust my position, or stand up and do my stretches, and helps me know when to ease off the PT and when it's making it worse or making it better.

It’s really rare and / or hard to diagnose. It just happened s the one doc my wife knows is one of the few who can do so.

She takes the gabopantein for unrelated neuropathy.

A lot of people are using larger tires these days. A friend showed up today with a new S-works Tarmac and he had 28s on it, he said he liked them a lot.
I've been on 23s forever (always clinchers) and maybe I could benefit from some softer riding tires? Lots of bad pavement around here.

I've moved up and up. 28's tubeless on the road bike. 700x41c or 650bx2.1" on the gravel bike. Even mtbers are racing on fatter tires now a days. Used to be 2.1's were the end all be all for xc racing. 2.35 is coming around.

My front tri spoke I used for TT's has a 19c on it for aero. Thing scared me looking down at it after all this time riding fat tires hahaha

Any disadvantage to the 28s on the road? Don't think I want to try tubeless yet but I'm pretty sure my road bikes will both fit 28s. I had a bike that wouldn't fit 25s.
I like the 2.8s on the mtb but they are definitely slower on climbs, I only run 15psi on the front.

They're definitely less aero from the data, but I think the comfort factor is huge. Plus being able to run low pressure on slick day or crits is a big plus. I used to ride Gp4000's in 25 and moved to the 500's in 28. They're basically the same width but the 5000 is a far superior tire.

I made it all road season without a single flat this year on the 5000's in tubeless. Which, due to where I live with all the goat heads, is either a miracle and a half or a huge test testament to these ttires just being really good.

Gapapentin is the only thing that would let me sleep when I had shingles on my side a few years ago. I took ibuprophen during the day and that seemed to help get me through work

When I had that **** in my eye I couldn't go to work, the pain was intense. The Gabapentin was also intense.

Pro Bike Kit has them on sale right now. Sounds like they are durable? Maybe I should try them.

I switched from Michelin Krylion 2's (AKA: Pro4 Endurance) to tubed GP5K's this season. The GP5K's roll and corner better, but I've had three flats over the span of 2.5 months. On my HED Ardennes wheels the 25's measure out a shade wider than 28mm.

For anyone here that has relocated for a job, what did you do to find one? Ive been applying out of state recently and it seems like recruiters and companies are hesitant because I am not local.

I think it helps to mention in your cover letter or on your resume that you are looking to relocate specifically to that city for X reason.

I know at my (second tier) university, a big part of who we offer to is the "will we be able to get them" question. People who have some sort of tie (however minimal) or expressed desire or reason to want to come to our city get a boost over more promising candidates who we are afraid might get scooped up by someone better after we spend the time/money to bring them in a couple of times and really recruit them.

Yep, this is what I did. I would tell them why I was looking in that area.

At my old job when we interviewed, we'd often ask "so what do you know about [this area]" and if they said they didn't know anything, it was a red flag that they weren't actually serious about moving.

In two or three instances I made it clear that my wife had already accepted a position in the area, and we were moving there regardless. That helped a lot in getting me interviews.

I got my drivers license renewed yesterday. It has to be done every 10 years and new picture. Woman says - "Wow you were really young last picture.". Yup 10 years. Hmm.

I renewed my passport this year. On downside now I have a passport with no stamps. On up side new picture doesn't look like I am stoned. lol

Just renewed my wife's. Post office thought the picture may not fly as she was smiling as it changes facial features used by the ever increasing facial recognition systems.
She got the smiling picture passport picture yesterday.

Peloton went public today priced at $29 a share. It is down in trading about 7%. I think many of the Peloton cycles will become towel racks. Last night, when leaving the gym, I saw the spin class had 3 participants. Not exactly a Soul Cycle turnout. In La Jolla, we have many gyms, spin studios, yoga studios, pilates studios, massage parlors, recovery facilities and IV studios, one has to wonder how they make any money. And Life Fitness is building a 40,000 square foot full service gym, spa and etc to add to the mix.

I don't know. Peleton is the only at home fitness bike that I've seen people actually use. (People, not cyclists.) I think the big draw is the subscription service, which gives people guided workouts and spin class from their homes. My sister in law has one and uses it daily. And when not using the bike, she sometimes does the yoga or weight sessions.
