Cannondale still making tandems ?
Cannondale has not had any new tandems listed on their US website for the last few days (or maybe I just couldn't find them . . . )
Is this a glitch or are they out of the tandem market ? |
2015 was the last year for the road tandems, not sure about the 29er that they also offered. When they moved tandem production overseas they upset their already small following. We have a 2015 T1, made in Taiwan, and I think it’s an excellent frame. |
There is a 2018 road tandem in a grey color . tandemseast website mentioned it so I went searching. I could not find it on thier website thru normal menus but found it with a google search.

It sort of seems like they make a batch and wait for it to sell before making another. MTBTandems.com shows 2015 MTB's in stock on their website.

I just (last week!) bought a new 2016 Cannondale T2 Road Tandem. Contact your Cannondale dealer.

What are you all paying for the new ones?
I see a lot of people picking them up but was wondering what prices you are seeing thanks in advance |
I just placed an order with Tandems East for a T1 last Friday. They called me today (I was hoping with the tracking #) to tell me they didn’t have the size we need. But...they have the T2 in Anthracite and will build it up to the same specs as the T1. At first I wasn’t feeling it but now I’m getting excited! |

Great to hear! Mel takes pretty good care of his customers, so you should end up with a great bike!

Regarding the availability of Cannondale road tandems. I just read this thread and checked the Cannondale website tonight 4/23/19- they reintroduced the grey painted T2 for 2019 at $4900. Same frame and components, way higher price. We own a 2016 and enjoy it immensely but we bought it for $3000. If we were spending 5k today I would buy something from the tandem houses. Any thoughts on whether an over 40 lbs road tandem can compete with a Comotion for a bit more of that price?

We received it on Thursday, I didn’t get to unbox it until yesterday. It’s beautiful! They upgraded everything to match the T1. Carbon cranks, Gates belt drive, full Ultregra, Kinekt Suspension seatpost and upgraded the brake cable and housings.
We haven’t been able to ride it yet but I think we are going to love! We are riding in the Southwest Tandem Rally with it next weekend so we will get to break it in right! |
Cost Clarification
