I had swerve hard to pass her on the right because she pulled out in front of me super fast. I glared at her but she was too busy buckling her seat belt. Thank god for brakes. :crash:

End result = 6 pins + metal plate in my finger, and a learned lesson to never ride brakeless down an insanely steep hill

Almost happened to me the first (and only) time I attempted a jump on my fixed gear. Apparently after years of riding a BMX bike I had the tendency to stop pedaling in the air...

I love this thread. Seriously.

most people who do bunnhops on fixed DO stop pedaling...the important thing is to START pedaling once ur bike hits the ground lmao

I found this video last night on bikeblognyc.com of Tom LeMarche doing some jumping on his fixed...
Seems to almost stop pedaling in mid air, but is ready to pedal when he lands... must be really weird!

i saw that video too...you just have to time the pedals right it seems...tom has the skipping down pat

even if you don't have the timing right, at that speed once your wheels hit the ground the force created will get you pedaling right away. Looked like the grass was really wet anyways so you could land on a skid as well. Cool video btw.

Really, really stupid one from last year. Note that even though the picture shows drop bars, the actual accident happened on my crappy Wal-Mart MTB.

I don't have MS Paint. (on a mac) I just used photoshop
I haven't gotten in many bad accidents, but this was hands down the closest I've gotten to a serious one, and by far the most frustrated I've been with a driver.

I don't have any awesome traffic stories but I once got 4 flats in one ride before calling my wife to come pick me up (I was out of tubes and patches)...
