You had to be soft-pedaling in that draft.
|
Great shot...:thumb:

Hey, is that Scott Baker in 3rd position. Scott is a very strong TT guy and cool friend.
|
Big M and VanceMac are almost opposite aero body types.

From this week's crit race. Off the front for 3 laps. Serious suffer face... I'm in front. Credit: May's studio. |
Nice face for sure. Why 2 bottles for a crit?

Hi, some photos from the August 20th, El Dorado Park Twilight Training Series. All photos by Allan Crawford.
Masters 35+, 1st lap, I'm on the far right of the pack -- pink shoulders, red helmet -- and I'm about to jump across to these two guys. I caught them but then the pack came up a short time later. http://acgallery.smugmug.com/BikeRac...013-2318-L.jpg Watching the front of the pack. Note how many Velo Allegro (dark blue with white and yellow trim) and Velocity (dark blue with white and orange trim) jerseys there are in the photo. http://acgallery.smugmug.com/BikeRac...013-2378-L.jpg Me in the break. http://acgallery.smugmug.com/BikeRac...013-2533-L.jpg Might as well throw in a photo of Big M leading the Pro/1/2/3 pack. http://acgallery.smugmug.com/BikeRac...013-2457-L.jpg |
MEA and I attended the Masters Road Nationals in Bend, OR this week. MEA competed in the TT and was 3rd of 16. There was 5 seconds separating the top three competitors over the 20K course out and back course with ~400 feet of climbing at 3000 feet of above sea level. MEA had a bad luck at the turnaround where there were two other slower women negotiating the turn around as she arrived and had to slow for them. Not exactly the race of truth but this is racing.
http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u...psd50d84f5.jpg Here are some pics taken by yours truly. The drive to Bend is 520 miles and we went past Mount Shasta on the way. http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps824a2657.jpg Bend is at 4000 feet of elevation and we went for a ride when we arrived. It is very a very nice area with lots of bicycle infrastructure. However, we did not see a lot of cyclists compared to the Bay Area which may have been due to the time of day we were out. The weather was hot 96 degrees and windy on our ride. http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps6eac51d7.jpg We rode the TT course that was about 45 minutes from Bend in Prineville. The course is very nice and the temperature in the morning was in the low 70s and wind light. http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps1b9afdf4.jpg http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u...psbd26b9c7.jpg http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u...psaad83fc0.jpg Here is the start and finish line. http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps010976a6.jpg MEA in the start house. http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps4d9e0317.jpg Technical inspection was right before you got into line. We took her bike to pre-reg and USA cycling measured it the day before the race. Some racers showed up to race with with out of spec bikes race day and were scrambling. http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps4d23f2e8.jpg It was a fun trip and we hooked up with friends who were at the event. MEA had perfect weather race day but the next day was terrible for the younger men and women for the road race where there was golf ball size hail. |
That's great Hermes. Congrats to MEA. Just 5 seconds from the win! She beat our local rider by over a minute. Jane is very strong, that shows how good MEA really is.
|
MEA had a great time, just a handful of seconds off of the top rung. As you said, "racing". Loved the start house - big time stuff, there! Hermes, you take great pictures!
Cleave, nice to see the Park and nice to see you hammering along! Big M leading the pros? Yeah, I'd expect that! I'd LOVE to do one of those races down there. Maybe next year! |
Congratulations to MEA - great ride!
|
MEA is so pro!
|
Congrats on the podium Mea.

I will pass on the props to her.

Some guy came to the velodrome tonight and set up to take pictures for a story he is doing. He said that he's a professional and his name is Edward Campbell. They asked me to pose and to give some attitude. Not sure where this will end up. I didn't think about hiding the fluid bloated elbow that was the result of my crash two weeks ago.
