Campy Record / Chorus / Athena aero pedals?
 

I would really like a set. What are the differences and why are they so expensive on eBay? Does anyone have a spare set they'd get rid of for a fair price?

Also, how many posts do you need to post a for sale ad on the C&V sale board?

They are expensive because they are old Campagnolo parts.

I use them, they fit my big feet better.

I've got some Dura Ace or MKS EsQuartz (very similar looking) if you're interested...also some (were) NOS tan Cinelli and red Silva straps to go with them...

The differences are mainly in weight. If you hold the C-record up next to the Chorus, the body the Chorus is thicker and less sleek than the C-record. Same for comparison to the Athena. I have a Chorus on one bike and a Record on the other, and they both run similarly well. I keep the Record on it's bike because that bike is nearly all aluminum Campy 10-speed Record.

I have a set of Campagnolo Croce D'aune pista pedals and they are great for touring and appearance. The Record C pista , Croce D'aune pista pedals are the most sought after for their polish and graceful design. That's why they are expensive.

Pid be interested int the DAs. Are they 7400? With the triangle fronts?

Dunno DA too well...but I believe so, yes on the triangular front, very clean...you can have them for the same price I paid, I only ride clipless these days.

I agree about clipless. I bought my bike for mostly fair weather commuting, so I'd rather not have to bring a pair of shoes to change into. PM me and let's try to work something out on the pedals.

I read on velobase that the difference between Athena and Chorus is the pedal axle. They have different part numbers, so the axles are different. I would just guess the Chorus axles are lighter than Athena.

I have a pair of these pedals and don't know if they're Chorus or Athena. I have another pair that look almost exactly like 'em, but the outer plate doesn't curve around to accept the strap. I think those are Victory. To my eye, Victory looks just like C-Record, but the back plate isn't removable via screws like C-Record.

Unlike old Record pedals where you can get a hub cone wrench on the pedal cone, you cannot do that with either of my two sets. I don't know if they're easy to overhaul otherwise, so I haven't done it. I just pushed more grease in there.

Here's a good link with lots of pics to help identify Campagnolo aero pedals. So for C-record I found it a useful tip to go foraging for mushroom-shaped plate to attach the toe-clip:)...not that I ever found any that I could afford.

I could purchase the hardware set on ebay for $45, but I'll look for a less expensive solution. Maybe @rootboy can manufacture us some. :thumb:

S​​​​​o far, the Victorys (or is it Victories?) feel a little weird/different than the Chorus ones due to the lack of that curved piece. But they should work out. I haven't ridden them much yet. So far, my foot can't tell that the hardware is missing, "which is nice."

No, unlike Victory, the backing plate on C-Record uses screws.

In related news, the verdict is in on these Victory pedals. No, they're not as comfortable for me as the Chorus. But I can do under 50mi on 'em, no prob.
