Rode just 20 miles yesterday afternoon, but did it pretty hard, so just went out for a quick 30-minute 'recovery' ride this AM, nice and easy. I find it a bit weird to get used to slowing down, not that I am the fastest cyclist or anything. But I am sort of used to riding at my usual pace and it feels strange to go slower. But the wise Bike Forumers have told me I need more recovery and more rest and more protein, so that's what I am a doin'.

Unfortunately missed last sundays ride because winter returned in force for the first day of summer, then today was better around 40c or 100f Quite a contrast lol.
Just enjoyed the ride at my own pace. Riding from the city to coast was very warm, along the coast was cooler and just nice but by the time i got back just past the city I was damn hot. Good to be out on the bike though.

Pretty good weekend, darned allergies and asthma seemed to ease up a bit the past few days.

20 miles Friday, fairly easy pace just to test the legs for a planned Sunday ride.

Mostly rested Saturday, easy spin to stretch the legs while watching TV.

43 miles Sunday, fastest time yet on that route despite 20-30 mph wind. The tailwind helped only briefly on a few segments. Mostly it was crosswind and quartering wind from the south as I was mostly riding west and east. I'm paying a bit more attention to getting aero, which may account for the speed improvement. I don't really feel any stronger.

If I could check mark all the perfect weather boxes for cycling then this weekend had them all. Temps were in the 50's - 70's. Party cloudy, but mostly sunny, low wind and low humidity. Saturday I went to Picnic and Davis Is. for 40 miles. Got into chasing other faster riders, so my legs were sore afterwards. :) Sunday I rode out to Flatwoods for 45 miles. Had a few weird close car encounters. One driver was heading down the wrong side of the road while face was stuck on cell phone.

Did our every-Sunday group ride with the usual suspects. We were on our tandem. The other two tandems were much younger and some stronger than we. Oh well. There were also 7 singles to play with and a few were closer to our speed. We did 37 miles & 1900', We tried to ride a steady hard effort, a little harder on the hills, with no easing off. We go by HR, not having power on the tandem. I had 00:00:32 in Z1, 00:12:56 in Z2, 01:47:56 in Z3, 00:37:19 in Z4 and nothing in Z5. Yeah, if you do the math, we only averaged 14, but we busted butt, and that's the important part.

After the coffee stop, we rode with two of the singles, they dropping us on every hill, we dropping them on every descent and flat. i.e. we made them worth their butts off, too. The singles say that riding with us, the flats and descents are much more difficult than the hills. Anyway, a fine day for a ride, temperatures in the upper 40s, cloudy all day, but not a drop of rain. Afterwards, the group toasted another Perfect Ride™ in a nearby brewpub.
