lets see your polar vortex!

Over the last three months has been rough with no riding, just time to fill. Here's the result!

I've been riding, too! Still commuting to work every day, on the trainer most nights, outside when I can. That said, I can't wait for the end.

Polar Vortex?
Just another winter in Maine. -15F this morning.
Hope it doesn't mess up the sugaring season.

Top,

Balmy to your southwest in NH at a -12F.

I've been wondering about the same thing. The past several years the sap had been flowing for a couple of weeks by early March. Looking at the long range forecast predicts it will still have another week+ to wait.

Do you sugar?

My Polar Vortex has been dozens of freewheels mailed to me for service in the past 8 weeks. My little hobby "business" is in full swing as so many C&Vers have their vintage rides strip down for polish and PMing.

The only bike I've been working on has been a 1990 Jamis Tangier 700c hybrid I found at the dump a couple of weeks ago. Nice chrome molybdenum frame with late Suntour components. It will eventually become my future son in law's ride.

...and yes, looking forward to spring. Not for my own sake, but because I have two beehives. Last I checked, they were still alive. But it's March, and it's still really cold out there.

Welcome home. Welcome home to reality.

Thanks Jim. Even though I was expecting it, it was a rude awakening. Feels like a dream now.

Now that is what Polar Vortex is all bout! Beautiful, gorgeous and fantastic to see history under the vortex cloud!

Snow, yo.

This did not stop the true die-hards, but with all the salt, no C&V hardware in sight.

It snowed here in the Portland, OR metro area in early February - biggest snow storm here in the valley since about 1993. I rode my 1986 Fuji Sundance in the snow, which was more challenging than I thought. It was my first time ever riding in the snow. I rode in a park near home on the paths. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=367313

I know this picture is from the 'wrong' side of the bike - I'll do better next time. It's only raining here now, so not as daunting. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=367316
