I've developed a problem in all 5 of my vintage Bikes

All 5 of them seems to have lost horsepower and I can't figure it out.:foo::foo:

A friend of mine bought a new Roubaix a couple years ago, all the bells and whistles, carbon frame, Di2, hydro discs, etc. He told me, the only problem is that it has an 80 year old motor.

As my father remarked to me, when I mentioned noticing my physical decline, sometime in my early fifties, "it doesn't get better..."
A decade later, at 87, he still plays tennis 3 times a week in the winter, (Until Covid-19 shut down their courts in MA), and always goes back up to 5x weekly in the summer, plus a swim.

I get passed so quickly sometimes, I bet they aren't even aware (or care, if they were) about how hard I'm trying. :D
Cheers, Eric

Dollars to donuts you haven't been practicing social distancing with your bikes. One bike gets the disease. They're close together for long stretches of time and you expected something different?

As someone who's been given that for free a few times, ehhhhhh, pass. :/

[didn't help that Red Bull couldn't organize themselves out of a paper bag during the '14 Soap Box Derby competition in Seattle that year...]

Which is why I'm perfectly happy riding 50's-80's bikes. The chassis and suspension match what's under the hood very well.

What's worrisome is my recent propensity for rod-braked roadsters. Those seem to really perform the best given the power output.

Obviously, as your bikes get older, they need more time to recover between rides. I suggest buying two or three more vintage bikes to give each bike more rest between outings. It should help.
