What is this small, button-shaped thing-a-ma-jig on the chain side seatstay? Thanks! |
I'm going with chain hanger for when you remove the wheel. Very handy and old school.

Eject button.

Ha! I ask that question a while back. I still haven't tried using it despite the number of times I taken my back wheel off.

It is indeed, a pin for hanging the chain when the rear wheel is removed. I have one on my '84 Pug and it comes in handy sometimes.

Hah! I think I have one of those in my Bianchi and have wondered the same thing.

In order to hang the chain on it, shift the chain to the smallest cog. This is in any event, the preferred method for getting the wheel out of the dropout.
|
It keeps the chain from flopping around when the wheel is off.
It's really handy when transporting the bike in the car with the wheel off. |
self destruct button.......or chain hanger...one of those....
|
its only adding weight remove it

BITD, it was one of the features you'd check off while comparing bikes. "Two braze-on water bottle bosses, CHECK. Toe clips WITH straps, 700c wheels, CHECK. Pump peg, CHECK. Chain Hanger ...."
