Do you know what happened to him?

Was he struck by a car or passed away due to illness etc?

My buddy and former co-shoprat Mark stayed in the game for as long as he could but found some challenges he could not surmount.

Here he is on the little 500A Flandria I gave him to give to his little nephew. Kid never got the bike, as you can see.

Looks like a bad string of luck for us Two Wheel Travel alumni. Dale Peacock, another former co-worker (as was Mark, above), was found dead in his home. A truly good person and great fan of the GAP/C&O with several end-to-end trips behind him.

Dale riding.

A few years before Mark's death another great TWT bike guy, Joe Kauffmann, died from complications following foot surgery.

We lost one of the really talented C&V members to a cardiac event, @Otis passed away while riding yesterday. Jon Williams was a super talented Drillium artist on Campagnolo, and other marques of vintage components. He will be sorely missed by everyone in C&V.

RIP Jon, ride on brother.

Respectfully,
Bill

To everyone that have loss a family or friend, I'm sorry for your loss. It's never easy. Let us be thankful for the time they were in our life, and find strength in all the good memories... until we meet again. Thank you for this space of remembrance.

Yesterday our cycling community suffered a great loss. Our good friend, mother, and wife was struck while riding the "Booty Loop" and was pronounced dead at the hospital from her injuries.

She was a great person and one of the best riders I've met. She will be missed.

PhotoJoe

Our wonderful Bike Forums moderator, long time member and great friend has lost his battle to cancer. A great man with a smile always on his face, he stood up to cancer many times and won. This time, his body finally got tired. His decision to focus on family before he took that final step to meet the Lord he so greatly loved was his greatest loving gift he can ever bestow.

Going to miss your always positive attitude, PhotoJoe... and the gift of your friendship.

Thank you for being a part of our lives.

Love you, and rest pain free my dear friend.

For the largest part of my life the month of May has been a joyous revelation of sunshine and warmth beating back the bleak and dreary grey skies of winter, with beautiful lush greenery exploding everywhere. The smell of freshly mowed lawns and sweet fragrance of locust tree blossoms ushered in a new season of outdoor activities.

A year ago May changed for me when Nicky Hayden was struck by a car while on a training ride on his bicycle in Italy.

The grass isn't as green this year.

I only learned about the loss of Kate Embrie very recently. She was a very active member of our bike club, The Narragensett Bay Wheelmen. She died in a cycling incident while on holiday in Florida this past winter. There was no issue of negligence on the part of a motorist. Her smiling face is missed at our weekly Sunday rides.
